For WoW Forever Druid leveling, play Feral: Bear Form carries you from 10 to 20, Cat Form takes over at 20, and you heal yourself between pulls instead of eating. Forever makes Feral much better for leveling, because your weapon's DPS now counts in form, Shred arrives at 20 and potions work without leaving form.

WoW Forever Druid leveling facts: Feral is the leveling spec, Revive is learned at level 12, Shred at level 20 instead of 22, Berserk is the 31-point Feral gold talent with a 3 minute cooldown, and Night Elves, Tauren and Skyborne of both factions can be Druids.
Shred's new level comes from the beta notes and may change at launch.

Best Druid leveling spec: Feral

Druid sits in C tier on our best class to level list, almost entirely because of the first 20 levels. Once Cat Form arrives, Feral levels at a good pace: Prowl to choose your fights, Claw and Shred to build combo points, Rake and Rip as bleeds, and Bear Form when two monsters show up at once.

Balance got real attention in Forever. Wrath was redesigned to cost much less mana, Eclipse speeds up Starfire after Wrath casts, and Moonkin Form now allows every non-healing spell. It is fine for the first 10 levels and for dungeons, but mana limits how many pulls you can chain, so Feral stays our questing pick.

When to switch: dual specialization unlocks at level 40. Keep Feral for questing and add Restoration, since healers find dungeon groups fastest. Blizzard also notes that Druids lack snares, silences, interrupts and strong crowd control, so a fight against casters will always be a little harder than on other hybrids.

Feral talent path for leveling

Talents open at level 10. If Classic's one point per level carries over, your 11th point lands at level 20, the 16th at 25, the 21st at 30 and the 31st at 40. On later characters the Legacy perk Talented unlocks points up to five levels sooner. Omen of Clarity is now baseline at level 20, so it no longer costs a talent point.

  1. Points 1-10: Heart of the Wild, moved to row 1 (smaller Intellect and Strength bonus, same Bear Stamina), and Feral Swiftness in row 2: Cat Form speed now works indoors and its dodge bonus is always on. Ferocity makes your abilities cheaper and now covers Primal Bite. Sharpened Claws costs 2 points instead of 3.
  2. Point 11 (level 20): Feral Charge. The gold talent now includes a Cat Form version on a 30 second cooldown that closes distance but does not interrupt or root. You get it at the same level as Cat Form.
  3. Points 12-15: Savage Fury (row 3, now also boosts Shred), Shredding Attacks (row 3, cheaper Shred and Lacerate) and Blood Frenzy, which now includes Primal Fury in one 2-point talent.
  4. Point 16 (level 25): Shifting Power. It replaces the removed Tiger's Fury: in Cat Form it instantly converts 55% of your base mana into 40 Energy on a 16 second cooldown, and it cannot be used at full Energy. The Bear option at this milestone is Primal Bite, the renamed Mangle, which costs 20 Rage and builds very high threat.
  5. Points 17-20: Improved Shifting Power (row 5, cooldown lowered by 4/8 seconds) and Predatory Strikes (row 5, up to 20% more crit damage).
  6. Point 21 (level 30): Leader of the Pack. Since the October 16 notes it raises melee and ranged crit for your whole raid.
  7. Points 22-30: Rend and Tear (row 6, more melee damage against bleeding targets, which Rake and Rip keep up), plus Natural Reaction only if you want to tank.
  8. Point 31 (level 40): Berserk. 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown, usable in Bear, Cat and Dire Bear Form. It removes Fear and doubles crit chance for Cat Form combo abilities.

Furor moved its Cat Form part to Restoration in a new form: at 5 points your Energy regenerates outside Cat Form as if you were in it, and you keep that Energy when you shift into Bear. It is strong if you shift a lot, but it costs points outside Feral.

Key Druid abilities and class quests

Forever sources give four baseline levels: Nature's Grasp at 10 (now castable in form and indoors), Revive at 12 (a new out-of-combat resurrection), Omen of Clarity at 20 and Lacerate at 42. The October 16 notes moved Shred to 20 (was 22). Other levels in the table are carried over from Classic.

In Classic, Druids learn Bear Form from a class quest at 10 and Aquatic Form from another at 16, both run through Moonglade, and Blizzard has not announced changes to them. Do the Bear Form quest the moment you hit 10; the level 10 to 20 stretch is much easier with it.

50-60Weapon upgradesTop ranks of Shred and RipCat questing, dungeons for gear

1-10. Wrath now costs far less mana, so caster leveling is smoother than in Classic. Thorns scales a little with spell power. Pick up the best weapon you find even now, because from level 10 your form attacks use its DPS.

10-20. Bear Form does the work. Swipe hits 3 targets and scales with Attack Power, Enrage gives 10 Rage up front, and Bear Form generates 100% more Rage on critical strikes in the beta notes. Most potions now work in form, so you can drink a healing potion without shifting out.

20-30. Cat Form arrives with Shred, Claw and Rip, and Cat Form no longer lowers your maximum health. Claw and Shred both hit significantly harder than in Classic. Open with Faerie Fire, which you can now cast in Cat or Bear Form for free on a 6 second cooldown, and use the Cat version of Feral Charge to close the gap. Most doors and objects now work in form.

30-40. Travel Form at 30 speeds up questing, and Shifting Power at 25 gives you extra Energy for tough fights. Save gold for the level 40 mount. The Drowned City (35-40 in beta notes) is a good stop.

40-50. Berserk, Dire Bear Form and dual spec all land around 40, and Lacerate at 42 gives Bear a stacking bleed for threat. Krol'dok Stronghold (40-45) is the new dungeon here.

50-60. Upgrade your weapon whenever you can, since weapon enchants and procs such as Crusader now work in form. Finish in Mount Hyjal or Winterspring and run Blackmaw Hold for gear.

Forever changes that affect Druids

  • Weapons count in form: Bear, Cat and Dire Bear auto attacks use your weapon's DPS, and weightstones, enchants and procs work in form.
  • Consumables in form: most potions work without shifting, and Druids can use Rage potions and Thistle Tea.
  • Racials in form: Shadowmeld, War Stomp and Walk on Air work while shapeshifted.
  • Tiger's Fury removed, replaced by the Feral talent Shifting Power.
  • Stronger Feral abilities: Claw and Shred hit much harder, and Rake and Swipe gain Attack Power scaling.
  • Shapeshift forms are immune to Disarm, and Faerie Fire no longer resets your swing timer.
  • Skyborne Druids: both Windshaper (Horde) and High-Order (Alliance) Skyborne can be Druids. They start on Zephras Isle (1-12) and get Walk on Air and 1% haste.
  • Engineering: most bombs still fail in form, except the new SAF-T and EZ-Thro recipes.

Professions, gear and dungeons

Herbalism pairs well with Travel Form, and Skinning feeds Leatherworking for the leather gear Feral wears. Leatherworking is a crafting profession, so it earns Legacy Points at 150, 225 and 300 skill. Engineering is a niche pick for the new form-friendly bombs. Our professions guide covers the new recipes.

For Feral leveling, take Agility and Strength, then Stamina, and treat weapon DPS as a real stat now that forms use it. Hit and crit are unified, so hit gear helps every ability and spell you cast.

Druids can fill any role in a dungeon, and Revive at 12 means you can bring a party member back between pulls. Dual spec at 40 is when a Feral leveler can start healing or tanking runs without losing the questing build. See our dungeons guide for the new dungeons.

WoW Forever Druid Leveling FAQ

What is the best Druid spec for leveling in WoW Forever?

Feral. Bear Form carries you from 10 to 20, Cat Form takes over at 20, and you heal yourself between fights. Add Restoration or Balance as a second spec at level 40.

When do Druids get Cat Form in WoW Forever?

At level 20, carried over from Classic. Forever's beta notes also moved Shred to 20 (it was 22), so Cat Form and Shred arrive together.

Does weapon DPS matter for Feral Druids in WoW Forever?

Yes. Auto attacks in Bear, Cat and Dire Bear Form now match your weapon's DPS, and weapon enchants and procs work in form, so upgrade your weapon like any melee class.

What races can be Druids in WoW Forever?

Night Elves for the Alliance, Tauren for the Horde and the new Skyborne on both factions: Windshaper Skyborne for the Horde and High-Order Skyborne for the Alliance.

Is Druid a good class to level in WoW Forever?

It starts slowly, which is why we rank it in C tier, but it gets much smoother after Cat Form at 20 and Travel Form at 30. Druids also find dungeon groups easily because they can fill any role.

What replaced Tiger's Fury in WoW Forever?

Shifting Power, a Feral talent at the 16-point milestone. In Cat Form it converts 55% of your base mana into 40 Energy on a 16 second cooldown.
