WoW Forever Dungeons: All 9 New Dungeons & Levels
Every new WoW Forever dungeon with its level range and location, and how the nine new instances change the 1-60 leveling route.
WoW Forever adds nine new five-player dungeons on launch day, spread from level 13 to 60 across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Together with the classic instances they give you a dungeon option at almost every level. Here is each new dungeon, where it is, what level it is for and how to fit it into your route to 60.

Early dungeons: levels 13 to 33
Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron fill the gap that Ragefire Chasm, The Deadmines and Wailing Caverns used to cover. Hall of Thanes sits under Ironforge, so Alliance players reach it easily, while Horde have to travel into Dun Morogh. Ruins of Lordaeron is the reverse, right above the Undercity.
Excavation Site (24-29) in the Wetlands and City of Dalaran (28-33) in Alterac Mountains cover the mid-20s. Dalaran is the only new dungeon with an attunement: Alliance start with "An Alarming Request" from Emissary Jacques in Southshore, and Horde start with "Key to the City" and "Prison Break-In" from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill.
Mid-level dungeons: levels 35 to 53
The Drowned City (35-40) off the Stranglethorn coast and Krol'dok Stronghold (40-45) in the new Riverglades zone give the 35-45 range more options than Scarlet Monastery and Razorfen Downs alone. Alcaz Prison (48-53) in Dustwallow Marsh lands right where many players used to grind Zul'Farrak and Maraudon.
Endgame dungeons: Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace
Blackmaw Hold (55-60) in Azshara and Shaper's Terrace (58-60) in Un'Goro Crater sit alongside Blackrock Depths, Dire Maul, Scholomance and Stratholme. Expect them to matter for pre-raid gear before Phase 1 raids open on December 9. We cover raid prep in our Phase 1 raid guide.
How to use the new dungeons while leveling
- Run Hall of Thanes or Ruins of Lordaeron once around level 15-18 for an early gear upgrade.
- Pick up the City of Dalaran attunement quests before you reach 28 so you can enter as soon as you are in range.
- Use The Drowned City and Krol'dok Stronghold to break up questing between 35 and 45.
- At 58-60, rotate Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace with the classic endgame dungeons for pre-raid items.
Beta testers reported that dungeon experience was tuned so a smooth group levels at about the pace of good questing, so dungeons are a real alternative to questing rather than a slow detour. Treat that as beta information until we see live numbers.
