WoW Forever opens on November 4, 2026 and its first raids on December 9, so the question for most players is simple: can you reach level 60 in time? This guide covers how long 1-60 takes, what Forever changes compared with Classic, the zone route for both factions, the new dungeons on the way and the Legacy perks that make leveling faster on your second character.

WoW Forever leveling infographic: launch November 4 at 23:00 UTC, Phase 1 raids open December 9, about 150 hours of play for 1-60, roughly 4.3 hours a day to be 60 when raids open.
Time to 60 is a community estimate from the beta.

How long does 1-60 take?

Blizzard has not published a 1-60 time, but it has said that 1-20 takes about 20 hours, almost exactly the Classic pace. Beta players and guide writers estimate the full run at around 150 hours of /played: roughly 20 hours for 1-20, 50 for 20-40 and 80 for 40-60. Experienced players with a planned route will be faster, and first-time players slower.

Reaching 60 before Phase 1 raids

Hours you play per dayDays to 60 (about 150 h)Ready by December 9?
2 hoursabout 75 daysNo, mid-January
3 hoursabout 50 daysNo, late December
4.3 hoursabout 35 daysJust in time
6 hoursabout 25 daysYes, with a week to gear

Reaching 60 is only the first step: you also need dungeon gear, your mount and, for many classes, attunements before raiding. Players who want to raid on day one usually plan to be 60 a week or more before December 9.

What changed from Classic

  • Same XP curve. Blizzard confirmed there are no changes to the experience required from 1 to 60.
  • Over 1,000 new quests spread across the leveling zones, plus new zones: Zephras Isle (the Skyborne starting area), Riverglades for the mid-30s to mid-40s and Mount Hyjal at the end of the 50s.
  • A new race, the Skyborne, available to both factions.
  • New dungeons from the teens to level 60, listed below.
  • Dungeon XP was rebalanced in the beta: dungeon quests give less bonus experience than before, while experience from dungeon monsters went up by about 20%.
  • No WoW Token and no paid character boosts. Blizzard has said it has no plans to add them, so every character is leveled by playing.

Leveling route for Alliance and Horde

This is the zone order most beta guides recommend. Overlapping ranges are normal: move on when the quests in a zone turn grey or start giving little experience.

Dungeons while leveling

Running the same dungeon over and over is not the fastest route in Forever. The usual advice is to clear each dungeon once at the right level with its quests picked up, then go back to questing. Forever adds nine dungeons to the Classic list:

New WoW Forever dungeons (beta level ranges)

DungeonLevels
Hall of Thanes13-18
Ruins of Lordaeron15-20
Excavation Site: Wetlands24-29
City of Dalaran28-33
The Drowned City35-40
Krol'dok Stronghold40-45
Alcaz Prison48-53
Blackmaw Hold55-60
Shaper's Terrace58-60

Party experience follows the Classic rule again: if one member is far above a monster's level, nobody in the group gets experience from it, so keep your group close in level. Our WoW Forever dungeons guide covers the dungeon list in more detail.

Fastest classes

Beta players rate Mage and Hunter as the quickest levelers, thanks to safe solo kills and little downtime, while Warrior is the slowest solo without a healer. Priest and Druid sit slightly below average. The difference is a few percent of total time, so pick the class you want to play at 60: you will spend far longer raiding and in PvP with it than leveling it.

Legacy perks that speed up alts

The Legacy System pays one Legacy Point per class at levels 25, 45 and 60. The Adventure perk tree turns those points into faster leveling for your next characters:

  • Well Rested (5 ranks): rested experience builds faster and the rested cap rises, up to 20% at max rank.
  • Talented (5 ranks): your first talent point arrives earlier, at level 5 instead of 9 at max rank.
  • Thrill of Adventure (5 ranks): open-world kills restore some health and mana, which cuts downtime.
  • Frequent Flier (1 rank): flight paths cost half as much and fly 20% faster.
  • Field Medicine (2 ranks): shorter bandage cooldown.

Each character can spend up to 16 points at launch, so your second character levels noticeably faster than your first.

Leveling tips

  1. Plan your route before launch and keep quest log space for the next zone's quests.
  2. Log out in an inn or city so rested experience builds while you are offline.
  3. Pick up flight paths in every town you reach; they save hours later.
  4. Train one gathering profession while leveling: it pays for your level 40 mount.
  5. Save gold for the level 60 riding training, about 1,200 gold with the mount. Our riding guide shows how to pay less.

A note on safety: Blizzard has said it wants to reduce boosting in WoW Forever, and it has put accounts with suspicious gold trades on temporary economy holds during the beta. If you use a leveling service, choose one where real players do the work by hand, and keep your own play in the same character's normal pattern.
