WoW Forever Warrior Leveling Guide 1-60: Spec & Talents
How to level a Warrior in WoW Forever: Fury or Protection, the talents Blizzard has confirmed, Victory Rush at 20, the new Rage rules and tips for every bracket.
To level a Warrior in WoW Forever, play Fury for kill speed or Protection for safety, and lean on Victory Rush from level 20 to heal after every kill. Warriors are still the slowest class to level solo, but the reworked Rage rules, baseline Tactical Mastery at level 14 and dual spec at 40 make WoW Forever Warrior leveling much smoother than it was in Classic.
Best Warrior leveling spec: Fury or Protection
Our best class to level tier list puts the Warrior in C tier for solo questing, and the reason has not changed: you need gear, you take every hit in melee and you eat after many pulls. What changed is how much Forever gives back. The two specs we recommend fix the problem from opposite ends.
Fury is the damage route. Unbridled Rage now procs more often and gives 2 Rage per proc with a two-handed weapon, Boundless Rage raises your Rage cap and Blood Craze now also triggers from big hits and from Bloodthirst.
Protection is the safe route. Blocks can now give 5 Rage through Shield Specialization, Master of Defense adds Rage on dodges and parries with a shield, Bastion raises all your damage while a shield is equipped and Focused Rage cuts the cost of your attacks. Thunder Clap now works in Defensive Stance, so pulling two or three monsters stops being a gamble.
Arms still works with a big two-hander: Weaponmaster rolls every weapon specialization into one talent and Bloodthrill can light up Overpower on targets with Rend. Its 16-point talent is aimed at mounted targets, Dragons and Giants, though.
When to switch: at level 40, when dual spec opens. A common plan is Fury or Protection for questing and a pure Protection spec for dungeons. Talent changes need a class trainer in a major city, so set both specs before you leave town.
Warrior talent path: what Blizzard has confirmed
Talents open at level 10 and you get one point per level, so you reach the milestone talents at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points around levels 20, 25, 30 and 40. The Legacy perk Talented can unlock talent points up to 5 levels earlier on later characters.
Blizzard has only named the new 16-point Warrior talents so far. It has not published what sits in the 11, 21 and 31-point slots, so we will not guess.
Confirmed Warrior milestone talents (16 points)
| Tree | Talent | What it does | Leveling value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arms | Spearing Strike | Instant attack for 15 Rage, 20 second cooldown, dismounts the target, double damage to mounted targets, Dragons and Giants. Requires Battle Stance (beta). | Situational. Strong in world PvP and on Giants. |
| Fury | Raging Blows | Whirlwind hits with both weapons while dual wielding and Cleave costs less Rage. | High once you dual wield and pull groups. |
| Protection | Vanguard | Charge can be used in Defensive Stance. | High. Open every pull without a stance dance. |
Fury priorities while leveling: Rage first (Unbridled Rage, Boundless Rage), then Blood Craze and the redesigned Enrage, which can now trigger from any damage you take. Pick up Precision for hit. Bloodthirst no longer heals; it now gives 10% movement speed for 10 seconds, and its Attack Power ratio was raised to 45% in the October 1 beta notes.
Protection priorities while leveling: Shield Specialization, Improved Bloodrage and Master of Defense for Rage, Vanguard at 16, then Bastion and Focused Rage. Defiance only adds threat with a shield equipped. Fury and Protection layouts were reshuffled on October 1 and Toughness was removed, so read the trainer tooltips at launch.
Key Warrior abilities and class quests
Three ability levels are confirmed for Forever; the rest are carried over from Classic because Blizzard has not announced a change.
- Confirmed for Forever: Tactical Mastery at level 14 (keep 10 Rage on stance swap), Victory Rush at level 20, Berserker Rage at level 30 (moved from 32 in the October 1 beta notes).
- Carried over from Classic: Charge and Rend at 4, Thunder Clap at 6, Hamstring at 8, Sunder Armor and Taunt at 10, Overpower at 12, Cleave at 20, Execute at 24, Whirlwind at 36 and plate armor at 40.
- Class quests: in Classic you earn Defensive Stance from a class quest at level 10 and Berserker Stance from a quest chain at level 30. Forever has not announced changes, and the October beta notes fixed two Warrior quests, so expect the stance quests to stay. Do the level 10 quest right away.
Warrior leveling by bracket
WoW Forever Warrior leveling by bracket
| Levels | Focus | Key abilities | Pull style |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-10 | Best two-hander you can find, First Aid | Charge, Rend, Thunder Clap, Hamstring | One monster, Charge in, eat after two or three fights |
| 10-20 | Defensive Stance quest, first talents | Overpower, Tactical Mastery at 14 | One or two monsters |
| 20-30 | Victory Rush, 11 and 16-point talents | Victory Rush, Cleave, Execute | Two monsters, Victory Rush after every kill |
| 30-40 | Berserker Stance quest, save for riding | Berserker Rage, Whirlwind at 36 | Two or three with Thunder Clap |
| 40-50 | Plate, dual spec, riding | 31-point talent, tank spec | Questing plus dungeon tanking |
| 50-60 | Hit and weapon upgrades | Full Rage toolkit | Small groups, careful with casters |
1-10: Charge, Rend and Heroic Strike cover almost every fight. Get the slowest, hardest-hitting two-hander you can, since swing Rage depends on weapon speed, and level First Aid as you go.
10-20: Do the Defensive Stance quest and spend your first points. Tactical Mastery at 14 means you keep 10 Rage when you swap stance, so Battle Stance to Defensive Stance mid-fight no longer wipes your bar. The new dungeons Hall of Thanes (13-18) and Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20) are good places to start tanking, using beta level ranges.
20-30: Victory Rush changes everything. Use it after every kill to heal 10% of your health, and you will sit down to eat far less. Execute at 24 speeds up the end of each fight. Excavation Site: Wetlands (24-29) and City of Dalaran (28-33) are the next new dungeons.
30-40: Finish the Berserker Stance chain and start saving for riding at 40. Rend and Thunder Clap now scale with Attack Power, so they stay useful as your gear improves.
40-50 and 50-60: Train plate, set up dual spec and take your 31-point talent. From here most Warriors mix questing with tanking runs, because dungeon monsters give about 20% more experience than before. Keep upgrading your weapon above all else.
Forever changes that affect Warriors
- Rage from being hit: armor no longer lowers the Rage you get, and absorbs like Power Word: Shield no longer cut it either. The October 8 beta notes say Warriors should now gain more Rage from damage taken.
- Rage from hitting: based on the speed of the weapon that dealt the damage, and critical strikes give 75% more Rage.
- Victory Rush at level 20: 30 second cooldown, scales with Attack Power, heals 10% of maximum health and lights up for 20 seconds after a non-trivial kill.
- Cooldowns: Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share a cooldown.
- Battle Shout: its Attack Power bonus was reduced because both factions now have Shamans and Paladins, Improved Battle Shout is baseline and the shout became raid-wide in the October 16 beta notes.
- Slam: has an 18 second cooldown in the beta and is no longer pushed back by damage.
- Weapon skill: gear with weapon skill now gives less per item, so it is not an automatic upgrade.
- Unified hit and crit: one hit and one crit value cover melee and spells, and Blizzard says this makes Taunt more reliable.
- Racials (beta, may change): Human Sword Specialization became Ruthless (2% crit), Orc Axe Specialization became Savage (1% crit) and Dwarf Mace Specialization became Earth Fury (2% critical damage and healing). Blizzard was still doing a final pass on racials on October 26.
Blizzard also reported Rage generation bugs in the beta and said it was tracking down the cause, so check the hotfix notes if Rage feels wrong at launch.
Professions, gear and dungeon role
Professions: Mining with Blacksmithing is the classic Warrior pair for sharpening stones and weapon upgrades, while Mining with Herbalism earns more gold for riding. Always level First Aid; the Legacy perk Field Medicine shortens your bandage cooldown. Our professions guide covers the new recipes.
Stat priority while leveling (Classic logic, not a Blizzard list): weapon damage first, then Strength, Stamina, hit and Agility. Fury wants a slow two-hander early and two weapons later; Protection wants a good shield and a one-hander.
Dungeons: you are the tank most groups need, and Vanguard plus Thunder Clap in Defensive Stance make Forever tanking easier on Rage. Clear each new dungeon once with its quests. Bonus experience from dungeon quests was halved, so do not farm a dungeon only for its quests. Our dungeons guide lists every level range.

WoW Forever Warrior leveling FAQ
What is the best Warrior leveling spec in WoW Forever?
Fury for faster kills or Protection for safer solo questing. Protection gains Rage from blocks, dodges and parries with a shield, and Thunder Clap now works in Defensive Stance. Dual spec at level 40 lets you keep both.
When do Warriors get Victory Rush in WoW Forever?
At level 20. It is an instant attack on a 30 second cooldown that scales with Attack Power, heals you for 10% of your maximum health and becomes usable for 20 seconds after you kill a non-trivial enemy.
Is Warrior hard to level in WoW Forever?
It is still the slowest class solo in our tier list because it depends on gear and takes a lot of damage. Victory Rush, Tactical Mastery at 14 and the new Rage rules help a lot, and Warriors level fast as dungeon tanks.
Which races can be Warriors in WoW Forever?
All ten: Orc, Tauren, Troll, Undead and Windshaper Skyborne for the Horde, and Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Night Elf and High Order Skyborne for the Alliance.
Do Warriors still do stance quests in WoW Forever?
Blizzard has not announced a change, so we expect the Classic quests for Defensive Stance at level 10 and Berserker Stance at level 30. We will confirm this after launch.
