AION 2 Soul Binding costs on Unique gear: all ten Bind steps cost 2.13 million Kinah and 408 Soul Codex, a Reset costs 300,000 Kinah and 3 Soul Codex: Reset, Soul Fuse costs 1 million Kinah and 2 Philosopher's Stones, Unique items roll 3 to 5 lines.

AION 2 Soul Binding is the system that unlocks the hidden random lines on your gear and then makes them stronger. You Bind to raise the values, Sync to replace one line and Reset to reroll all of them, and a full Bind on one Unique item costs about 2.13 million Kinah and 408 Soul Codex. This AION 2 Soul Binding guide explains each button, what it costs on Global servers, which lines are worth keeping on every slot and the order that wastes the fewest materials.

What Soul Binding does in AION 2

Every piece of gear above Common grade has hidden lines that stay locked until you bind it. Open the Enhancement window (default key N) and pick the Soul Binding tab. The first bind reveals the lines and ties the item to your character, so it can no longer be traded, sold on the market or fed to another character as material.

The number of lines depends on grade. Common items get 1, Rare 2, Epic 3 and Unique 3 to 5. Most Unique dungeon and field boss gear rolls 4, long-reach weapons such as the Enraged Kromede ones roll 3, and crafted Dragon Lord weapons roll 5.

Each line is either a stat (Combat Speed, Critical Damage Boost, Attack and so on) or +1 to a class skill. Roughly one roll in five is a skill. Weapons, guards and rings pull skill lines from your active skills, while armor, earrings and necklaces pull from passives.

One thing surprises a lot of players: Soul Binding does not change your Item Level or gear score. It only raises Combat Power. If you are pushing for an entry gate, Enhancement and better base items move the number you need, and Soul Binding comes after.

Bind: raising the binding rate

Bind spends Kinah and Soul Codex to push the values of your existing lines toward their caps. It never changes which lines you have. Each step adds a random amount, so two players can pay the same cost and land on slightly different numbers. When every line is capped the client shows that the maximum binding rate is reached.

8322,00060
9451,00078
10632,000102
Total2,130,000408

The last three steps cost more than the first seven combined. That is why we stop at step 6 or 7 on gear we expect to replace soon, and only finish the climb on pieces that will stay in the build. Rare gear is far cheaper, starting at 2,500 Kinah and 1 Soul Codex, but it only has two lines and is not worth a full climb past the leveling phase.

Sync: replacing one line

Sync swaps one line you choose for a new random line. You feed in a sacrifice: another Unique item or a Sync Stone of at least the same grade. The material is used up whether you get the line you wanted or not, and a lower-grade material gives very poor odds on Unique gear.

Before you press the button, click the percentage icon in the Sync window. It lists every line that can replace the selected one and its chance. The success chance shown next to the material is the chance the swap happens at all, not the chance of a specific result.

Approximate chance of a premium line per Sync (client data)

SlotLineChance per try
Weapon, guardWeapon Damage Boost or Combat SpeedAbout 3%
Weapon, guardDamage BoostAbout 1.6%
ShouldersCritical Damage BoostAbout 2.4%
Helmet, capeDouble Chance or Attack IncreaseAbout 1%
Earrings, ringsAttackAbout 5%

In plain terms, chasing one exact line on a weapon takes 30 or more Syncs on average, and each try eats a Unique item. Players report spare gold pieces going for roughly 1 to 1.5 million Kinah on most servers. Sync is the right tool for fixing one bad line on an otherwise good item, and a poor one for building a perfect item from scratch.

Reset: rerolling every line

Reset rerolls all lines at once. On Unique gear it costs 300,000 Kinah and 3 Soul Codex: Reset, and the game warns you that the current effects will be replaced. The result is fully random, so you can lose a good line along with the bad ones.

  • Use Reset when two or more lines on the item are dead weight, for example HP, MP or Block on a damage dealer's weapon.
  • Use Sync when one line is wrong and the rest are worth keeping.
  • Reset before you Bind. Codex spent raising a line is gone if a Reset replaces that line, so treat binding progress as lost when you reroll.
  • Watch your Reset books. They are bound to your account and much rarer than normal Soul Codex, which makes them the real limit on how often you can reroll accessories.

Best Soul Binding lines by slot

These are the lines we aim for on a PvE damage dealer. Healers and tanks can swap in Incoming Heal or Damage Tolerance where it fits, and skill lines for your main rotation skills are always worth keeping.

Priority Soul Binding lines per slot (PvE)

ChestDamage BoostPerfect Chance
GlovesCombat SpeedPerfect Chance
PantsDamage Tolerance, Attack IncreasePerfect Chance
BootsMovement SpeedPerfect Chance
EarringsMovement Speed, MightAttack
NecklaceCombat Speed, MightClass passive skill levels
Rings+1 to your main damage skillsAttack

Some lines only appear on one slot. Damage Boost on armor is chest-only, Critical Damage Boost is shoulders-only and Combat Speed on armor is gloves-only, so do not burn Sync materials hoping for them anywhere else. Two rings with +1 to the same skill take it from level 14 to 16, which is one of the cheapest damage gains in the system.

For PvP, move Status Effect Chance onto weapon and guard, and put Critical Damage Tolerance and Weapon Damage Tolerance on the cape. HP, MP, Defense, Block and Evasion are usually the first lines we reroll in either mode.

Soul Fuse and Transfer

Once every line on an item sits at 100% binding rate, Soul Fuse opens. It costs 2 Philosopher's Stones and 1,000,000 Kinah and adds one extra line with a guaranteed success on Unique gear. Most items take Philosopher's Stone: Revelation and some take Philosopher's Stone: Power, and the item description tells you which. The stones come from Conquest-tier content such as Krao Cave and Draupnir on Hard and Ludra, and the season shop sells a small, account-limited number for Oath Coins.

Transfer moves the enhancement level and Soul Binding lines from one item to another of a higher item level, using a Transfer Stone for that slot. Both items must be bound to the same character, and the old one is consumed. A few rules matter before you commit:

  • The Soul Fuse line does not transfer. Manastones, Theostones and Potential do not carry over either.
  • If the new item has fewer lines than the old one, the game picks at random which lines survive.
  • Transfers are limited per season, so save them for real upgrades.
  • Since the October 28 patch, tier 3 Expedition gear can transfer into tier 2 crafted gear, which opens a cheaper path to good crafted pieces.

The cheapest order to Soul Bind your gear

Line pools are the same across item levels. Only the value ranges change. That means you can roll the lines on a cheap item and carry them forward later.

  1. Wait until level 45. Story gear replaces itself too fast before then, and anything you bind becomes untradeable.
  2. Pick a cheap Unique base. Item level 36 and 41 Unique pieces drop from named level 45 monsters in the open world and are far cheaper to roll and enhance than endgame items.
  3. Fix the lines first. Reset if two or more lines are bad, then Sync the last weak line. Do not Bind yet.
  4. Enhance on the cheap base. Taking an item level 36 piece to +15 costs a fraction of the Kinah and Enhance Stones that a high item level piece needs.
  5. Transfer into the real item, then Bind it up to 100% binding rate.
  6. Soul Fuse last, and only on items you will not transfer again, since the fused line is lost.

Accessories are the awkward slot. They do not drop in the open world or from the Shugo Festival, so cheap bases are rare and Reset books do most of the work there.

Where to get Soul Codex and Reset books

Soul Codex, Soul Codex: Reset and Philosopher's Stones are all bound, so you cannot buy them from other players. You have to earn them on the character or account.

  • Achievements are the single biggest source of Soul Codex. Clear the easy ones in the achievement tab before you farm anything.
  • Group content: Expeditions, Transcendence, Sanctuary runs, raids and Dimensional Invasion all drop Soul Codex.
  • Weekly sources: the Daeva Pass, the season coin shop, Shugo Festival rewards and Hidden Cubes.
  • Nightmare Trade Shop: Soul Codex costs 400 of the shop currency, and Reset books are sold in small weekly amounts.
  • Login events: the current Atreia's Call event gives 3 Soul Codex: Reset on day 3 and day 17. Log in even on days you do not play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Soul Binding in AION 2?

Soul Binding unlocks the hidden random lines on a piece of gear and binds the item to your character. You can then Bind to raise those line values, Sync to replace one line and Reset to reroll all lines. It raises Combat Power but not Item Level.

How much does it cost to Soul Bind an item to 100%?

On Unique gear the ten Bind steps cost 2,130,000 Kinah and 408 Soul Codex in total. The last three steps are the most expensive part, at 1,405,000 Kinah and 240 Soul Codex together.

Should I Sync or Reset in AION 2?

Sync when only one line is bad and the rest are worth keeping. Reset when two or more lines are bad. A Reset costs 300,000 Kinah and 3 Soul Codex: Reset on Unique gear and rerolls everything, including any good lines.

Does Soul Binding transfer to new gear?

Yes. Transfer moves the enhancement level and Soul Binding lines to a higher item level piece of the same slot. If the new item has fewer lines, a random selection survives, and the Soul Fuse line never transfers. Transfers are limited per season.

What are the best Soul Binding stats in AION 2?

For PvE damage, Weapon Damage Boost and Combat Speed on weapon and guard, Critical Damage Boost on shoulders, Damage Boost on chest, Combat Speed on gloves and necklace, and +1 skill levels for your main damage skills on rings.

Can I trade an item after Soul Binding it?

No. The first bind makes the item untradeable, and it cannot be used as material by another character. Do not bind gear you plan to sell.
