Destiny 2 Arc Warlock Builds: Stormcaller & Exotics

Compare Arc Warlock starting builds for Crown of Tempests, Fallen Sunstar, Geomag Stabilizers and Getaway Artist, with clear loops and current interactions.

Stormcaller can support several different Arc Warlock goals: a Sentry-led ability setup, a trace-based support loop, a Chaos Reach plan or an Arc Soul companion. Choose the job you want to do before filling every slot with equipment from unrelated builds.

Reviewed October 14, 2026. The kits below are original starting suggestions built around Bungie’s documented effects. They are PvE learning routes, not a measured DPS ranking or a claim that one setup is strongest in every activity.

Choose the Exotic Around Your Goal

Four Arc Warlock starting directions

ExoticBuild focusMain condition to learn
Crown of TempestsArc ability flow and Ionic SentryActivate Conduction Tines before the Sentry deployment.
Fallen SunstarIonic Trace supportCreate and collect traces as part of the run.
Geomag StabilizersChaos ReachPrepare the Super and maintain useful damage on a target.
Getaway ArtistArc Soul companionChoose when to convert the equipped Arc grenade.

Select one Exotic as the centerpiece and build around its condition. If you already own a suitable option, learn that setup before chasing a replacement. The table compares different jobs rather than promising identical results from every item.

Understand the Arc Loop First

Bungie’s Arc framework gives Electrostatic Mind trace creation from Arc ability defeats and defeated Arc-debuffed targets; collecting a trace makes you Amplified. Arc Soul creates a companion through your Rift and shares it with allies who pass through. Lightning Surge is the sliding-melee alternative. Official Aspect framework.

Released Update 8.2.0 adds Bolt Charge: gaining a stack supplies melee energy, sustained weapon damage builds further stacks and ability damage discharges the bolt at maximum stacks. Amplified also reduces combatant accuracy and provides PvE damage resistance. Released Arc keyword changes.

Keep the pickups and buffs separate in your plan. An Ionic Trace supports energy and relevant interactions; Armor Charge has its own generation and spending rules. Use the Armor Mods Guide when planning an Orb-based weapon or ability benefit.

Crown of Tempests: Sentry and Ability Flow

With an Arc ability equipped, Crown’s Conduction Tines comes from Arc ability or Jolt final blows, improves ability recharge and extends Stormtrance. Its current perk also makes Ionic Sentry create a Storm Grenade when deployed while Tines is active. Current Crown of Tempests perk.

Update 9.7.0 confirms that Sentry interaction and extends Tines to ten seconds in PvE. For this starting kit, pair Ionic Sentry with Electrostatic Mind and choose Stormtrance if you want Crown’s roaming-Super interaction. Released Crown changes.

Bungie’s Sentry design explanation describes charging it with Arc weapon or ability defeats, then deploying a turret that blinds on impact and chains lightning. Update 8.2.0 confirms the Aspect’s release. Sentry behavior explanation. Released Aspect addition.

  1. Use Arc weapons and abilities while watching the Sentry readiness state.
  2. Secure a qualifying defeat and confirm Conduction Tines is active.
  3. Deploy the ready Sentry where the incoming group will be in range.
  4. Use the remaining kit to finish targets and collect available traces.
  5. Reposition when the fight moves rather than relying on an abandoned turret.

This plan needs qualifying defeats. If a boss phase has few available enemies, do not assume the same recharge flow continues unchanged. Separate the ability-clearing part of a run from its sustained damage phase.

Fallen Sunstar: A Trace-Based Support Setup

Fallen Sunstar makes the traces you create travel faster and grant extra ability energy. Collecting a trace also gives energy to nearby allies. Use Electrostatic Mind with Arc Soul as a starting pair if you want trace generation and a Rift companion for the group. Current Fallen Sunstar perk.

The reason to try this kit is the pickup loop. Make sure the chosen activity gives you opportunities to create traces and stay near teammates when the support effect matters. An energy benefit is most useful when it reaches the abilities you intend to use.

  1. Use a Rift position that the group can actually pass through.
  2. Use Arc abilities and the chosen weapons against qualifying targets.
  3. Collect the traces your setup produces.
  4. Spend the available ability energy on the next useful action.
  5. Check whether the group remains close enough for the support goal.

Compare this with Crown around your actual run. Sunstar emphasizes trace collection and nearby support; Crown emphasizes qualifying final blows and its Sentry/Stormtrance effects. Choose the pattern you can maintain naturally rather than treating the items as interchangeable.

Geomag Stabilizers: Plan for Chaos Reach

Geomags extends Chaos Reach when it damages targets and gives Chaos Reach energy from Ionic Trace collection. Sprinting near maximum Bolt Charge builds stacks over time; that is a Bolt Charge interaction, not the old assumption that sprinting fills the Super directly. Current Geomag Stabilizers perk.

Start with Chaos Reach, Electrostatic Mind and an Aspect you can use during ordinary encounters—Arc Soul is one straightforward option. Prepare a firing position with a clear line to the target and a reason to commit to the beam during that phase.

  1. Collect traces during the activity to support the Super goal.
  2. Check that the chosen target is available for sustained damage.
  3. Choose a position before committing to the cast.
  4. Keep useful damage on the target while the phase allows it.
  5. Return to the ordinary encounter loop when the target becomes unavailable.

A Super that occupies a damage window must fit the encounter’s movement and timing. This guide does not claim the beam outdamages every weapon rotation or that the Exotic gives unlimited Super uptime.

Getaway Artist: Choose the Grenade Conversion

Getaway Artist converts your Arc grenade into an autonomous Arc Soul and makes you Amplified. That creates a deliberate choice between using the equipped grenade normally and converting it for the companion. Current Getaway Artist perk.

For a simple companion-and-support starting kit, keep Electrostatic Mind and Arc Soul. The Rift Aspect serves teammates; the Exotic provides a conversion route for your own companion. Read the equipped controls and choose the action you intend before consuming the grenade.

Use this option when the companion behavior fits how you move through ordinary fights. Watch what you give up by converting the grenade. The kit does not promise multiple companions stacking into an unverified damage bonus, and it is separate from a Prismatic Getaway/Bleak Watcher setup.

Choose Fragments for the Loop You Are Using

Arc interactions to consider

FragmentDocumented interaction
Spark of DischargeIonic Trace collection adds Bolt Charge.
Spark of FrequencyAmplified increases Bolt Charge gained from sources.
Spark of IonsA Bolt Charge defeat creates an Ionic Trace.
Spark of ShockConstruct-based Jolt has a released application cooldown.

Update 8.2.0 documents the Discharge, Frequency and Ions additions. Choose among the available Fragment slots around the actions your kit performs; the table is not a required four-Fragment recipe for every loadout. Released Fragment interactions.

Update 9.7.0 gives Arc Soul and Ionic Sentry a four-second internal cooldown when they apply Jolt through Spark of Shock. Do not calculate damage or trace uptime as though every construct hit reapplies it. Released construct-Jolt limit.

Stats and Mods for a Working Setup

Released Update 9.1.5 makes Arc Soul and Ionic Sentry count as grenades for stats and perks. That gives Grenade investment a clear reason to consider in construct-focused setups. It does not remove the need to check the condition on an individual mod or perk. Released construct classification.

Choose a priority around the kit

FocusWhat to compare
Sentry or Arc SoulGrenade support and the conditions of the chosen effects.
Rift and group positioningClass support and whether the group can use the placement.
Chaos ReachSuper energy support and an actual damage window.
Ordinary clearingWeapon performance, ammo and a matching Orb plan if needed.
Staying effectiveSurvival support that fits the activity and the full loadout.

Use the current Health, Melee, Grenade, Super, Class and Weapons tooltips. The Armor 3.0 Guide explains stat investment and set choices. Avoid applying an old Resilience/Recovery/Discipline recipe unchanged to the current system.

Start with a weapon you can use comfortably, choose effects that match its job and keep enough room for the activity’s needs. Test your mod plan alongside the selected Exotic instead of assuming that every option labelled Arc supports every part of the kit.

Test One Interaction at a Time

  1. Confirm the Exotic, subclass, Aspects and abilities actually equipped.
  2. Choose one expected effect, such as trace collection or the active Tines deployment.
  3. Perform the qualifying action in a manageable activity.
  4. Watch the buff, ability state and result before repeating.
  5. Change one component if the result does not fit the plan.

Use an ordinary run to learn the sequence, then test it in the content you want to play. A clearing loop with many weak enemies may behave very differently when the encounter limits targets or forces constant movement.

For more subclass choices, read the Warlock Builds Guide. These Arc starting kits do not transfer every Aspect, Fragment and activation rule to Prismatic or another subclass.

Arc Warlock FAQ

Choosing and using an Arc setup

Which Arc Warlock Exotic is best for every activity?

Choose the goal first. These starting kits compare ability flow, trace support, a Chaos Reach plan and a companion option rather than claiming one universal winner.

When should I deploy Ionic Sentry with Crown of Tempests?

For the documented extra Storm Grenade interaction, confirm Conduction Tines is active before deploying the ready Sentry.

What should I focus on with Fallen Sunstar?

Create and collect Ionic Traces as part of your actual run, and consider where nearby teammates can benefit from the support effect.

Does sprinting with Geomags directly fill my Super?

The current perk describes sprinting near maximum Bolt Charge as building that charge. Its Chaos Reach support also uses Ionic Trace collection and damage during the Super.

Should I always convert my grenade with Getaway Artist?

Choose the action around the encounter. Converting it supplies the companion and Amplified, while using the grenade normally serves a different immediate purpose.

Are the Fragment suggestions a mandatory complete recipe?

No. Use available slots for the interactions the chosen kit actually performs, and read the current options before finalizing the setup.

Can I assume every construct hit reapplies Jolt?

No. The released Spark of Shock interaction has a four-second application cooldown for Arc Soul and Ionic Sentry.

Does coaching include acquiring the suggested Exotic armor?

The linked timed advice sessions discuss your build and loadout, with Self-play included. They do not sell the acquisition of every item suggested here.
