Destiny 2 Warlock Builds: PvE Roles, Stats & Exotics

Choose a Warlock PvE starting kit for Void, Arc, Solar or Strand. Understand current armor stats, Exotic triggers and build-coaching session options.

Game:Destiny 2GuidesPublished: By CFNBoost
A robed Destiny Warlock hovers over a glowing healing rift, one hand cradling solar flame and the other a small arc energy orb.

A useful Warlock build solves a problem you encounter while playing. You might want a clearer ability loop, stronger enemy control or a damage plan that still works when the encounter interrupts you. Start with that job, then choose your subclass, Exotic armor, weapons and stats together.

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Bungie’s released Monument of Triumph changes. The four setups below are original editorial starting points, not measured DPS rankings or a claim that one build is best for every activity. Adjust them to the equipment and abilities you have unlocked.

Choose the Warlock Setup for Your Goal

Four PvE starting points

GoalSubclass and ExoticWhat to practice
Void ability loopVoidwalker · Nezarec’s SinRecognizing the perk trigger and using the next ability deliberately.
Arc ability pressureStormcaller · Crown of TempestsKeeping track of the active buff before deploying Ionic Sentry.
Solar ignition playDawnblade · Dawn ChorusCombining the chosen scorch sources without losing your position.
Strand control and burstBroodweaver · MataiodoxiaChoosing when to use Arcane Needle versus the Super.

Choose one setup to learn before changing several systems at once. If your task is primarily keeping the team alive, agree on the healing and positioning responsibilities first; an offensive Exotic choice is not a substitute for that conversation.

Current Armor Stats Replace the Old Priority List

The Edge of Fate replaced the old stat names and behavior. Stats scale per point rather than only in steps of ten, with an additional benefit range above 100 through 200. Read the displayed effect for your current investment. Released armor-stat rules.

Read the current stat, then choose the investment

Current statUseful effect to inspect
HealthOrb-pickup healing and flinch resistance; higher investment adds shield benefits.
ClassClass-ability recharge and external energy gains; higher investment adds an on-cast Overshield.
GrenadeGrenade recharge and energy gains, then grenade damage above 100.
MeleeMelee recharge and energy gains, then melee damage above 100.
SuperEnergy gains from dealing damage and external sources, then Super damage above 100.
WeaponsReload, handling and PvE damage benefits; inspect the current tooltip.

The Super stat is not a reduction to the Super’s base cooldown. Do not rename an old “100 Intellect” recommendation and assume it describes the same effect. Super stat definition.

Choose an investment because it helps the loop you use. If a cooldown is already ready when you need it, consider whether another stat solves a more frequent problem. A fixed “everyone needs the same triple maximum” rule ignores the activity, your available armor and how often you use each ability.

Voidwalker with Nezarec’s Sin

Suggested starting kit: Nezarec’s Sin, Pocket Singularity, Soul Siphon and Feed the Void, with a Void weapon you can use reliably. Choose your grenade and Super for the encounter rather than assuming the same attack suits every room.

Nezarec’s Sin rewards Void final blows with faster ability recharge. Its current perk also suppresses combatants affected by Soul Siphon, and defeating suppressed targets extends Abyssal Extractors. Bungie’s current item definition.

Soul Siphon is readied by a powered melee hit; activate it to drain targets in front, gaining Overshield and class energy. Bungie describes Feed the Void as a compatible pairing. Soul Siphon design explanation.

  1. Practice a powered melee hit followed by the readied action.
  2. Watch the actual defensive and Exotic buff state.
  3. Keep a route back to cover instead of staying exposed to prolong the loop.

Melee and Class investment are useful candidates to inspect for this setup; keep Health and weapon comfort in the conversation too. If you struggle to approach a target safely, solve the positioning problem before trying to force a higher ability frequency.

Stormcaller with Crown of Tempests

Suggested starting kit: Crown of Tempests, Ionic Sentry, an Arc grenade and a second Aspect you understand. Stormtrance is a natural option to compare with another Super, while the weapon choice should cover the range where you actually engage enemies.

With an Arc ability equipped, Arc ability or Jolt final blows activate Crown’s recharge benefit and extend Stormtrance. While Conduction Tines is active, deploying Ionic Sentry creates a Storm Grenade. Bungie’s current Crown definition.

  1. Establish the buff with an eligible final blow.
  2. Confirm Conduction Tines is active before deploying the Sentry.
  3. Use the next attack from a position where you can recover if the loop stops.

Do not assume an ordinary Arc weapon kill satisfies every Exotic trigger. Read the perk and watch the buff. Grenade or Melee investment should follow the ability you are actually using to start the loop, not a generic recommendation from a different Arc setup.

Dawnblade with Dawn Chorus

Suggested starting kit: Dawn Chorus, Incinerator Snap and Daybreak, with Aspects and weapons selected around the Solar loop you intend to practice. Choose an accessible defensive option as well as an attack plan; more damage is not helpful if you cannot stay in the encounter.

The released June 2026 changes strengthen ignitions you create through scorch, grant melee energy from ignition damage as well as scorch, and make Daybreak hits immediately ignite targets. Released Dawn Chorus changes.

  1. Practice the selected scorch sources on enemies you can engage safely.
  2. Watch when the melee becomes available again.
  3. Plan a usable Daybreak window instead of casting only because the meter is full.

Inspect Melee and Super investment for the actions you rely on most. Keep a separate team-support plan if the activity expects healing. This starting kit is not presented as a replacement for every support role or a universal boss-damage winner.

Broodweaver with Mataiodoxia

Suggested starting kit: Mataiodoxia, Arcane Needle, Needlestorm and a grenade/Aspect pairing chosen for control or Threadlings. For the Threadling route, inspect Mindspun Invocation with Threadling Grenade before copying an older “consume for perched Threadlings” sequence.

The current Mindspun design charges Threadling Grenade into a deployed nest that repeatedly spawns Threadlings. Bungie’s changed grenade behavior.

Mataiodoxia’s listed perk creates suspending detonations from marked enemies, has a stronger detonation from multiple Arcane Needles or Needlestorm hits, and returns melee energy for suspended-target defeats. Item text reproduced from Bungie’s data on light.gg.

Bungie’s released update increased the Super supercombine burst. That change is not a measured comparison of this setup against every other damage build. Released Mataiodoxia change.

  1. Choose whether the immediate task is controlling enemies or damaging the priority target.
  2. Practice landing the intended Needle sequence without wasting it on an unsuitable target.
  3. Check the reward from the loop before repeating it automatically.

Inspect Melee for the Needle cycle, Grenade if the nest is central to your plan, and Super for the burst role. Choose Fragments after reading the current descriptions and slot count; this is a starting kit, not a fixed maximum-stat or exact-DPS prescription.

Armor Rolls, Set Bonuses and Mods

Armor 3.0 has primary, secondary and tertiary stats. Its Masterworking increases the three lowest stats on the piece, while full mod energy is available independently. Inspect the actual roll instead of applying the old “Masterwork adds to all six stats” rule. Bungie’s armor-system explanation.

June 2026 expanded Armor 3.0 to twelve archetypes, all available from Armor 3.0 sources. A preferred stat pairing is a way to narrow your armor search, not proof that a particular piece is guaranteed next. Released archetype expansion.

Compare a set bonus with the abilities and weapons you intend to use. Then choose compatible armor mods whose activation you can observe. Before buying an upgrade, inspect the total change in your equipped loadout; a larger item stat total alone does not establish a better result.

Prismatic and Other Subclasses Need Their Own Plan

Prismatic, Shadebinder or a different Exotic can be a useful alternative when its tools match your goal. Re-check the available abilities, Aspects, Fragments and Exotic triggers for the exact subclass selection. Do not transplant the whole Voidwalker, Stormcaller or Broodweaver kit just because the name of one ability appears in both menus.

If you are learning a new combination, start with the equipment you own and confirm each expected interaction. Keep a fallback weapon and defensive action available. This page compares four focused PvE starting kits rather than claiming an exhaustive ranking of every Warlock setup.

PvE and PvP Are Separate Loadouts

Bungie’s released June notes disable Artifact mods in Trials and competitive Crucible, and start multi-charge abilities with one charge in PvP. A PvE preparation plan should not assume those same effects or starting charges in a match. Released PvP restrictions.

Save a separate PvP version around a weapon you can aim and control under pressure. Compare handling, cover and ability timing in that environment instead of using a PvE damage number as proof of a stronger PvP setup.

An unfamiliar mechanic can make a good loadout feel ineffective. Separate that learning problem from the equipment question. These tests are a practice method, not published damage measurements or a guarantee of personal improvement.

Warlock Builds FAQ

Stats, playstyle and coaching

Which Warlock build is best for every activity?

No single setup is ranked as best for everything here. Choose the role you need, then compare the four starting kits against your equipment and the actual activity.

Should I copy an old Resilience and Recovery priority list?

Use the current stat names and displayed effects. The older list does not describe the current armor system, so decide the investment from the loop and problems you actually encounter.

Do I need a triple-maximum stat setup to start?

No fixed triple-maximum requirement is claimed. Practice the chosen kit, inspect where it falls short and adjust one investment at a time.

Will any Arc weapon kill activate Crown of Tempests?

Do not assume every kill counts. Read the current Exotic trigger and confirm the displayed Conduction Tines buff before relying on the next action.

Can I move the entire Strand kit directly to Prismatic?

Inspect the abilities, Aspect choices and Exotic interactions available for the exact subclass first. Sharing one ability name does not mean the entire kit transfers unchanged.

Are these measured DPS rankings?

No. The kits are original editorial starting points supported by current item descriptions and dated official changes. No measured damage ranking or PRO gameplay recording is claimed.

Does a coaching discussion include gear or a raid clear?

The timed discussion covers advice while you participate. It does not include new gear or an automatic raid completion; guided activity choices are separate packages.

Does coaching Self-play cost another 20%?

No. The current coaching prices already include Self-play participation. The 20% boosting surcharge is not added to these coaching sessions.

Sources and Review Scope

Reviewed October 14, 2026. Bungie’s released armor-stat and Monument of Triumph notes establish system changes. Its current Nezarec’s Sin and Crown definitions support their triggers; the dated abilities explanation supports Soul Siphon and the Threadling Nest. Mataiodoxia’s base perk uses Bungie item text reproduced on light.gg, distinct from that site’s numerical community research. The kits, stat-investment suggestions and practice method are original editorial recommendations. No current client execution test, full Fragment prescription, exact damage result, drop guarantee or universal performance tier list is claimed.
