Destiny 2 Choir of One Guide: Encore, Refits & Crafting
Find Encore, unlock and craft Choir of One, compare Command Frame and the three Refits, and understand aimed fire, hip fire and Special-ammo use.
Choir of One is a craftable Exotic Void Auto Rifle that uses Special ammo. Encore is its associated mission. Your first weapon, the Pattern, Command Frame upgrades and the three Refit choices are different results to check when planning acquisition or another run.
Reviewed October 15, 2026. This guide covers present mission navigation, crafting progression and practical weapon choices. Start with Encore’s current entry and displayed rewards rather than combining every original Episode: Echoes quest and secret-chest instruction into a current checklist.
Find Encore in Pinnacle Ops
Bungie Help lists Encore among available Exotic missions and classifies those missions as Pinnacle Ops. Look for the named Encore entry in the Director’s Ops area, then inspect access, difficulty and the reward objective before launching. Current Exotic mission guidance.
The June 2026 update moved Ops to the bottom of the Director and retired the old Exotic Rotator in favor of Pinnacle Ops. Use that released navigation change when an older guide directs you to a weekly Legends rotation. Released Director and Rotator changes.
Bungie’s August 2024 introduction connects Encore and the craftable Choir of One to the depths of Nessus. Its original week-by-week rollout is historical context; it is not a current requirement to wait through those release weeks. Original mission and weapon introduction.
Separate the Weapon, Pattern and Upgrade Goals
Choir of One progression checks
| Goal | What you need to confirm | Where to inspect it |
|---|---|---|
| First weapon | A Choir of One copy has been awarded. | Weapon inventory after the eligible mission reward. |
| Pattern | The weapon Pattern is unlocked for shaping. | Pattern progress and the Relic’s Shape menu. |
| Command Frame upgrades | The intended intrinsic version is available. | The intrinsic slot when reshaping. |
| Refit choices | The selected Catalyst effect is unlocked and equipped. | The separate Refit slot on the crafted weapon. |
An Encore completion does not by itself prove that every one of these results has been obtained. Check the actual reward and crafting options before choosing the next objective. The current recipe requires the Pattern and produces Choir of One. Current crafting recipe.
Plan the Encore Acquisition Run
- Open the current named Encore mission and inspect your account’s access.
- Choose settings whose displayed reward matches the weapon objective.
- Agree on the group’s roles and communication before entering.
- Complete the mission and inspect the actual weapon or upgrade awarded.
- Resolve available Deepsight progress and check the Pattern unlock.
- Visit the Enclave’s Relic to Shape the weapon once that Pattern is available.
For a first run, keep the group together through a new transition and let one player read the active objective. Clear nearby threats before moving to the next shared interaction. This is original preparation advice, not an exhaustive bridge, node or boss-puzzle walkthrough.
The current manifest retains several Encore activity variants. A matching mission name alone does not establish that an old Expert setting or a particular community score threshold guarantees the same upgrade today. Inspect the active entry’s rewards and your existing progress.
Use the Weapon Crafting Guide for Pattern progress, Shape and Reshape. Owning a dropped copy and being able to alter a crafted copy are separate states.
Upgrade Command Frame Separately
The current recipe contains Command Frame and versions II, III and IV in the intrinsic slot. These are separate from the Refit alternatives. Unlocking a Catalyst effect does not establish that Command Frame IV is available. Current intrinsic recipe options.
- Inspect the Command Frame version available on your crafted copy.
- Choose Encore’s matching intrinsic-upgrade objective.
- Complete the eligible reward route and check the result.
- Return to the Relic and inspect the newly available intrinsic.
- Reshape and confirm the intended version is equipped.
Keep weapon level, intrinsic unlock and Refit unlock distinct when an option appears unavailable. Check what the crafting screen actually requires before repeating the mission or spending materials.
Compare the Three Choir of One Refits
Subsistence Refit, Destabilizing Rounds Refit and Onslaught Refit are alternatives in one recipe slot. Choose an unlocked effect that supports the way you use the weapon; unlocking all three does not activate all three together. Current Refit recipe and effects.
Refit conditions and uses
| Refit | Current effect | Original starting advice |
|---|---|---|
| Subsistence Refit | Defeating targets partially reloads the magazine from reserves. | Compare it when repeated enemy defeats naturally support continued firing. |
| Destabilizing Rounds Refit | A defeat creates a Void burst; hitting other targets with that burst makes them volatile and briefly grants Volatile Rounds. | Compare clustered enemies and confirm the burst reaches another target. |
| Onslaught Refit | Final blows with this weapon increase its rate of fire. | Test the faster firing state after qualifying defeats and watch ammo use. |
Subsistence moves ammo from reserves into the magazine. It does not create an unlimited ammo supply. Onslaught starts from final blows, so firing into a lone target without a defeat is a different test from its active state.
Destabilizing Rounds has more than one part: the defeat creates a burst, and that burst must hit other targets for the described volatile and Volatile Rounds benefits. An isolated defeat does not reproduce that whole sequence.
For an original comparison, start with Subsistence when magazine interruptions matter, Destabilizing Rounds for clustered combat, or Onslaught when your route provides frequent qualifying defeats. Keep the same activity and compare the actual result instead of treating one choice as universally best.
Use Encore’s current Catalyst reward route to unlock the selected Refit, then apply it when reshaping. This guide does not promise a fixed number of runs, a universal score threshold or a required old Banshee quest and secret-chest combination.
Use Command Frame and Fanatical Lance
Command Frame fires extended-range, heavy-caliber projectiles at a reduced rate and gives increased precision damage while aiming down sights. Choir of One’s current weapon definition identifies Void damage and Special ammo. Current weapon and intrinsic.
Fanatical Lance adds two behaviors: rapid final blows cause a radiolarian-fluid pool, and hip firing launches several slower projectiles in a spread that detonate on impact. Hip-fire projectiles do not need the rapid-final-blow condition to exist; that condition belongs to the pool. Current Fanatical Lance description.
Keep the firing modes and effects distinct
| Situation | Effect to observe | Comparison to make |
|---|---|---|
| Aim down sights | Command Frame precision behavior. | Keep distance and target type consistent. |
| Fire from the hip | Slower spread projectiles with impact detonations. | Compare coverage and placement against aimed fire. |
| Secure rapid final blows | The Fanatical Lance fluid-pool effect. | Look for the qualifying defeat sequence. |
| Use a selected Refit | Its own defeat or burst condition. | Check that effect separately from the firing mode. |
A practical starting loop is to use aimed fire when you can place precision hits, compare hip fire against a nearby group, and watch for the pool after rapid defeats. Change one variable at a time so you can tell which interaction is helping.
Plan for Special Ammo
Choir of One uses Special ammo even though it is an Auto Rifle. The released June 2026 update reduced its ammo per brick from 45 to 35 at base and from 90 to 70 for enhanced bricks. Older demonstrations with larger pickups are not a current baseline. Released Choir of One ammo change.
Choose a workable fallback weapon and observe how often you spend the reserves during your normal firing sequence. Subsistence can keep the magazine moving, but it still draws from those reserves.
The Armor Mods Guide explains how to connect ammo and ability support to qualifying actions. Test your own pickup and spending loop rather than assuming a fixed number of shots or constant uptime in every activity.
Check the Result Before Another Upgrade Run
- Check whether the intended weapon, Pattern or upgrade was actually awarded.
- Inspect Command Frame and the Refit separately at the Relic.
- Confirm that you are reshaping the crafted copy you intend to use.
- Check the selected intrinsic and Refit on the finished weapon.
- Plan another mission objective only for the result still missing.
A released October 2025 update changed Encore’s final-boss arena door to open without waiting for the dialogue interaction. Older waiting instructions should not be treated as a mandatory current step. Released Encore door change.
Choose the Correct CFNBoost Choir of One Package
In Destiny 2 Exotic Weapons & Catalysts, select “Choir of One · Weapon unlock.” The published selection covers the named weapon-acquisition route. Optional intrinsic upgrades and Catalysts are excluded.

Destiny 2 Exotic Weapons & Catalysts
- Named Exotic acquisition routes
- Separate Catalyst objectives
- Activity-specific participation
Choir of One supports Piloted and Self-play. With Self-play, you control your Guardian and join the team; it adds 20% to the normal Piloted base. PC, PlayStation and Xbox share the same base. Select the exact objective before reviewing its instant total in your preferred display currency.
The collection card shows a starting price for the wider Exotic service. Use the configured Choir of One total for this purchase. Express and Super Express are priority choices; the selection does not promise all weapon upgrades or a fixed completion time.
If you already own the weapon and want advice comparing its available choices, Destiny 2 coaching offers timed build and loadout sessions. That is a separate advice service, rather than a Choir of One Catalyst package.
Choir of One FAQ
Mission, crafting and Refit questions
Where can I find Encore now?
Bungie Help lists Encore among available Exotic missions classified as Pinnacle Ops. Look in the Director’s Ops area and inspect the named entry’s access and rewards.
Is Choir of One craftable?
Yes. Its current recipe requires the Pattern and produces Choir of One. Check Pattern progress before using Shape at the Relic.
Does it use Primary ammo like most Auto Rifles?
No. The current weapon definition identifies Special ammo and Void damage. Plan an appropriate ammo and fallback-weapon setup.
Are Command Frame upgrades the same as Refits?
They occupy different recipe slots. Inspect the intrinsic versions and the separate Refit choices when reshaping.
Can I equip all three Refits together?
No. Subsistence, Destabilizing Rounds and Onslaught Refits are alternatives in one slot. Select the unlocked effect you want to use.
Does Subsistence generate free ammo?
Its description partially reloads the magazine from reserves after target defeats. It does not turn the weapon into an unlimited-ammo Auto Rifle.
Does Fanatical Lance require kills to launch hip-fire projectiles?
The hip-fire spread is separate from the rapid-final-blow pool effect. The current description places the rapid-final-blow condition on creating the radiolarian-fluid pool.
Does the CFNBoost weapon package include every Catalyst?
The published Choir of One selection covers weapon unlock. Optional intrinsic traits and Catalysts are excluded; choose the exact acquisition objective and inspect its configured total.
