OSRS skilling outfits at a glance: every XP outfit gives 2.5% with the full set (0.4/0.8/0.6/0.2 plus 0.5 set bonus), 7 XP sets, Graceful first, Prospector kit 180 nuggets, Carpenter 2,000 points, Rogue set doubles pickpocket loot.

OSRS skilling outfits are the four-piece sets that add 2.5% experience in one skill when you wear all of them, plus a handful of utility sets that change loot, weight or speed instead of XP. This guide lists every outfit, what each piece gives, where you earn it and which ones are worth your time first.

OSRS skilling outfits at a glance: full XP set gives 2.5% (head 0.4, top 0.8, legs 0.6, boots 0.2, set bonus 0.5), 7 XP outfits, Graceful first at 260 marks, Prospector kit 180 nuggets, Carpenter's outfit 2,000 points, Rogue set doubles pickpocket loot.

How skilling outfits work in OSRS

An XP outfit only boosts the skill it was made for, and only while you are wearing it. Each piece adds its own share, so a partial set still helps, but the 0.5% set bonus only switches on once all four pieces are equipped. That is why the last piece is always worth finishing.

The bonus applies to experience from the skilling actions themselves. The wiki notes that it does not apply to quest rewards or to the reward for finishing a Wintertodt round, so lamps, quest XP and round bonuses stay the same.

XP per piece (identical for every XP outfit)

PieceXP bonusShare of the full 2.5%
Head0.4%16%
Top0.8%32%
Legs0.6%24%
Boots0.2%8%
Set bonus (all four pieces)0.5%20%
Full set2.5%100%

Because the top alone is worth 0.8%, it is the best first piece when you buy from a shop. Legs come next, then the head, and the boots last.

Every XP-boosting skilling outfit

Seven outfits currently give the 2.5% XP bonus. Each one comes from a minigame or activity in its own skill, which means you usually earn it while training that skill anyway.

XP outfits and where to earn them

Level requirements worth knowing

  • Angler's and Farmer's outfits need 34 Fishing and 34 Farming to wear.
  • Spirit angler's outfit needs 35 Fishing to wear.
  • Pyromancer outfit comes from the Wintertodt, which needs 50 Firemaking, and you only get a reward with 500 points or more in a round.
  • Carpenter's outfit: if all your Construction XP comes from Mahogany Homes and you spend every point on the outfit, the wiki estimates you will be around level 78 before the set is complete.
  • Rogue equipment is untradeable and comes from the Rogues' Den, which in practice means 50 Agility and 50 Thieving.

Utility outfits that save more time than XP

Some of the most useful sets in the game give no experience at all. They speed you up in other ways, and for several skills they are a bigger upgrade than any 2.5% bonus.

Utility outfits (no XP bonus)

OutfitEffect with the full setCost and source
Graceful (all skills)25 kg lighter and 30% faster run energy restoration (20% from the pieces plus 10% for the full set).260 marks of grace from Rooftop Agility, spent at Grace's shop in the Rogues' Den.
Rogue equipment (Thieving)Double loot when pickpocketing: 15% per piece up to 60% with four, and 100% with all five.Looting the safe at the end of the Rogues' Den.
Raiments of the Eye (Runecraft)60% more runes when crafting runes.1,350 abyssal pearls from Guardians of the Rift.
Smiths' Uniform (Smithing)Chance to speed up Smithing actions by one tick, stronger with more pieces.15,000 Foundry reputation from Giants' Foundry.
Guild hunter outfit (Hunter)2.5% better catch rate and 5% more rare creature parts on Rumours.Completing Rumours for the Hunter Guild.
Zealot's robes (Prayer)5% chance to save bones and ensouled heads.Gold chests in the Shade Catacombs.

The Rogue set does not change Thieving XP and does not work on stalls, chests, Pyramid Plunder or the Hallowed Sepulchre. It is purely a pickpocketing upgrade, but for money-making from pickpocketing it is one of the best early unlocks.

Which skilling outfit to get first

We plan outfits around the skills an account is going to train anyway. A set that you earn as a side effect is almost free, while a set you grind on purpose has to pay back the time it costs.

  1. Graceful. Every account benefits from lighter gear and faster run energy, in every skill and every clue step. Get the full 260 marks before anything else.
  2. The XP set for your current skill. If you already mine at the Motherlode Mine, the Prospector kit takes 180 nuggets and arrives while you train. Start with the jacket.
  3. Pyromancer while doing the Wintertodt. You get it from reward rolls you were going to open anyway, and the pieces count as warm clothing for the fight.
  4. Angler's outfit from Molch pearls or the Trawler. Only upgrade to Spirit angler's if you will play a lot of Tempoross, because 4,800 extra flakes is a long grind.
  5. Farmer's outfit if you do Tithe Farm. 400 points is reasonable if Tithe Farm is part of your Farming plan, and it is a poor choice if you only do herb runs.
  6. Carpenter's outfit last. 2,000 points is the biggest grind on the list, so it is only worth it when Mahogany Homes is your main Construction method.

Is 2.5% XP worth the grind?

Reaching level 99 takes 13,034,431 XP. With a full set, each action gives 1.025 times the normal XP, so you need about 2.4% fewer actions: roughly 318,000 XP worth of work saved on the way to 99. That is real, but it is not a reason to grind an outfit in a skill you plan to stop at level 70.

  • Worth it when the outfit comes from the method you already use, the skill is a long-term goal such as a 99 or a skill cape, or you train the skill for hours every week.
  • Skip it when you only need a quest requirement, the outfit minigame is much slower than your normal method, or you would rather use the gear slots for something else.
  • Remember the limits: quest XP, lamps and the Wintertodt round reward are not boosted, and a set with three pieces loses the 0.5% bonus.

Small details that catch players out

  • Varrock armour 4 can replace the Prospector jacket once you finish the elite Varrock Diary, so the set bonus still counts.
  • The golden Prospector recolour costs 12,000 stardust for the set, has no extra effect and cannot be undone.
  • Prospector pieces from Petrified Pete cannot be sold back to Prospector Percy for nuggets.
  • Graceful recolours are not permanent unlocks: you pay again every time, and only uncoloured pieces can be sold back (208 marks for the full set).
  • Ultimate Ironmen cannot take single pieces out of a costume room armour case until the full set is stored.

Getting your outfits done faster

Outfit grinds are repetitive by design: the same minigame, round after round, until the last piece drops or the points add up. If you would rather spend that time on bossing, raids or quests, a verified CFNBoost PRO can do the outfit grind on your account. Choose the set you need on the service page and the price updates before checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best skilling outfit in OSRS?

For overall time saved, Graceful is the best skilling outfit in Old School RuneScape: the full set makes you 25 kg lighter and restores run energy 30% faster in every skill. Among the XP outfits, the best one is the set for the skill you train most, because every XP outfit gives the same 2.5% bonus.

How much XP does a full skilling outfit give in OSRS?

A full XP outfit gives 2.5% bonus experience in its skill: 0.4% for the head, 0.8% for the top, 0.6% for the legs, 0.2% for the boots and a 0.5% set bonus for wearing all four pieces.

Do skilling outfit pieces work without the full set?

Yes. Each piece gives its own bonus on its own, so a single top already adds 0.8%. The extra 0.5% set bonus only applies when all four pieces are worn together.

Is there a Sailing skilling outfit in OSRS?

As of 30 October 2026, the Old School RuneScape Wiki overview of experience-boosting sets does not list a Sailing XP outfit. The seven XP outfits cover Mining, Fishing (two sets), Farming, Firemaking, Woodcutting and Construction.

Does the Pyromancer outfit boost Wintertodt XP?

It boosts the Firemaking XP you earn from actions during the fight, but not the reward for finishing a Wintertodt round. You need 50 Firemaking to fight the Wintertodt and at least 500 points in a round to get a reward roll.

How many marks of grace do you need for full Graceful?

The full Graceful outfit costs 260 marks of grace: hood 35, top 55, legs 60, gloves 30, boots 40 and cape 40. Selling an uncoloured full set back returns 208 marks.
