Destiny 2 Finality’s Auger Guide: Weapon, Quest & Catalyst
Get Finality’s Auger from Sundered Doctrine, check drop boosts, follow The Drowning Labyrinth and compare weapon acquisition with Catalyst and Masterwork options.
Finality’s Auger is the Exotic Solar Heavy Linear Fusion Rifle from Sundered Doctrine. It can deploy a Ruinscribe Turret, then direct that turret toward marked enemies. Getting the weapon, finishing The Drowning Labyrinth and completing its Catalyst are separate milestones.
Reviewed October 15, 2026. Use this guide to plan acquisition attempts, identify the five Triumph drop boosts, follow the quest’s progression and understand the Catalyst’s 400-defeat objective. The service comparison explains which Finality’s Auger package matches each starting point.
Get Finality’s Auger From Sundered Doctrine
Bungie identifies the weapon as a random reward at the end of Sundered Doctrine; the current collection still names that dungeon as its source. Complete the source encounter and inspect the reward. A standard clear does not promise that the Exotic will appear. Bungie’s acquisition explanation. Current weapon collection.
Sundered Doctrine appears in Bungie Help’s available dungeon list. Check its current launch screen and your content access before forming the team. The current access guide explains expansion and Dungeon Key requirements; older launch Power numbers are not a reliable substitute for your present activity settings. Available dungeons. Current access guidance.
Plan Repeat Attempts and Drop Boosts
Released Update 9.1.0.2 removed weekly lockouts on Exotic weapon rewards in legacy raids and dungeons: the source encounter can offer another chance on another completion. For this older dungeon, plan eligible repeat attempts instead of treating its launch-era weekly limit as the current rule. Released legacy Exotic reward change.
That is an opportunity to try again, not a fixed number of clears until a reward. Ordinary featured gear, focusing and weekly challenges have their own reward conditions. Use the Raid and Dungeon Rotation Guide when your group also wants those rewards.
Five current Triumph records award an increase to Finality’s Auger’s initial drop rate. Inspect and claim the named reward when earned; the definitions do not publish a numeric percentage. Current Triumph reward records.
Finality’s Auger initial-drop Triumphs
| Triumph | Required objective | Plan the attempt |
|---|---|---|
| Military Doctrine | Complete Sundered Doctrine on Master. | Choose the difficulty objective deliberately. |
| Laboratory Inspector | Find all collectibles in the dungeon. | Track the collection alongside quest progress. |
| Lonely Travels | Complete every encounter solo without leaving. | Prepare the complete solo route. |
| Undying Deity | Complete every encounter as a fireteam without deaths or leaving. | Coordinate survival throughout the run. |
| Minotaur of the Labyrinth | Complete every encounter solo without dying or leaving. | Treat solo flawless as its own demanding goal. |
Bungie’s February 25, 2025 update corrected Triumph boosts not scaling the weapon’s drop rate and added an initial-drop boost for players completing Sundered Doctrine. It did not publish a guaranteed next-drop threshold. Released drop-rate correction.
- Check dungeon access and the Guardian you intend to use.
- Review completed Triumphs and claim eligible rewards.
- Decide whether this is an acquisition attempt, quest run or difficulty objective.
- Complete the eligible encounter and inspect the actual loot.
- If the weapon is still missing, arrange another manageable attempt.
- After receiving it, inspect the weapon and decide whether Catalyst work is next.
Follow The Drowning Labyrinth in Order
The current quest chain records eleven stages, including research handoffs and repeat dungeon completions. Follow the stage shown on your Guardian; a teammate’s later puzzle state does not establish that yours is complete. Current ordered quest definitions.
- Complete Sundered Doctrine on any difficulty.
- Collect the Hidden report and enter its proposed code at the base-camp machinery.
- Reach the 3-worm objective and recover the Dread knowledge.
- Complete the dungeon to investigate the changes.
- Follow the quest’s instruction to await the researchers’ study.
- Collect the next report, reach 6 worms and discover the Hive secrets.
- Complete the dungeon and check the vault door.
- Follow the second researcher-study milestone shown by the quest.
- Collect the newest report, reach 9 worms and locate the auxiliary control chamber.
- Return to the vault, complete the dungeon and open the door.
- Return to Ikora in the Bazaar for the debrief.
The worm objectives rise from 3 to 6 to 9. Read them as progression toward nine, rather than adding the displayed thresholds into eighteen. The definitions retain research-wait stages, but do not establish a fresh three-week waiting period for every player today. Check the next step actually available in your quest.
The Hidden Treasures Triumph records that completing The Drowning Labyrinth unlocks gear focusing in Sundered Doctrine. Focusing access is a separate result from a random Exotic drop or a completed Catalyst. Current Hidden Treasures record.
This is a progression overview, not a room-by-room puzzle walkthrough. Match reports, machinery and vault work to your current quest instructions; no universal panel code or unverified shortcut is supplied here.
Separate Catalyst Acquisition From Masterwork
The current Catalyst record lists Sundered Doctrine as its acquisition source. Check that Finality’s Auger is owned and The Drowning Labyrinth is complete before arranging the published Catalyst package. Acquiring the upgrade and finishing its weapon objective are different states. Current Catalyst source and objective.
After acquisition, the tracked upgrade requires 400 target defeats using Finality’s Auger. Inspect the progress on the weapon, complete the objective and apply the finished Catalyst. A weapon drop alone does not finish that work.
The attached perk is Bait and Switch. Its condition is to deal damage with all equipped weapons within a short window to boost Finality’s Auger’s damage. Using only the Auger does not satisfy the stated all-weapons condition. Current attached Catalyst perk.
- Verify the weapon is owned and the prerequisite quest is complete.
- Confirm that the Catalyst itself has been acquired.
- Inspect the 400-defeat objective and its current progress.
- Complete the tracked defeats and apply the upgrade.
- Practice a short damage sequence that uses each equipped weapon.
Use Ruinscribe’s Forge and Beacon
Ruinscribe’s Forge uses the alternate weapon action to launch a turret-deploying projectile, costing three ammo. Bungie’s description recommends an upward angle so the turret has a clear view of nearby enemies. Consider your sight line before spending that Heavy ammo. Current Ruinscribe’s Forge description.
With the turret deployed, Ruinscribe’s Beacon lets the weapon’s laser projectiles mark targets. The turret prioritizes marked enemies and uses stronger munitions against them. The alternate action switches between normal shots and the laser mode. Current Ruinscribe’s Beacon description.
Match the action to the weapon effect
| Action | Described result | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Deploy through Ruinscribe’s Forge | Three-ammo projectile creates a turret. | Aim for a useful, unobstructed view. |
| Mark an enemy with Beacon’s laser mode | The turret prioritizes it with stronger munitions. | Choose the enemy the team wants to pressure. |
| Switch between normal and laser modes | Changes how you fire the weapon. | Confirm the mode before the next shot. |
| With Catalyst, damage using all equipped weapons in a short window | Bait and Switch boosts this weapon’s damage. | Build a comfortable three-weapon sequence. |
Try deployment, target marking and mode switching in a manageable encounter before relying on them during a boss phase. Choose a place where you can see the target while staying alive. These are practice suggestions, not measured damage rankings or a guaranteed best rotation.
The Armor Mods Guide can help you plan supporting effects around your loadout. Inspect each mod’s actual condition; the Auger’s Solar damage type does not mean every Solar-related bonus activates automatically.
The February 2025 update also fixed a turret lingering after switching to another Heavy weapon. Do not build a current loadout around retaining that old behavior. Released turret correction.
Choose the Right Finality’s Auger Service
Open Destiny 2 Exotic Weapons & Catalysts and select the exact named objective. The three Finality’s Auger choices cover different results on one Guardian.
Exotic weapon and Catalyst packages
Destiny 2 Exotic Weapons & Catalysts
- Named Exotic acquisition routes
- Separate Catalyst objectives
- Activity-specific participation
Match your starting point to the selected package
| Selected objective | What it covers | What must already be ready |
|---|---|---|
| Finality’s Auger · Weapon acquisition | The named weapon acquisition. | Dungeon access and readiness; Catalyst and unlisted quest work are excluded. |
| Finality’s Auger · Catalyst obtain only | Obtaining the Catalyst. | Weapon owned and The Drowning Labyrinth complete; Masterwork is excluded. |
| Finality’s Auger · Catalyst obtain + Masterwork | Obtaining the Catalyst and completing its stated upgrade objective. | Weapon owned and The Drowning Labyrinth complete; their acquisition is excluded. |
These choices support Piloted and Self-play. With Self-play, you control your Guardian and join the session; it adds 20% of the normal Piloted base. PC, PlayStation and Xbox share the same base. Review the selected objective’s instant total in your preferred display currency.
The collection card’s starting price belongs to the wider Exotic service, not necessarily your selected Finality’s Auger objective. Review the configured total before purchasing. Priority choices do not turn a random drop into a first-clear guarantee or set a fixed completion deadline.
