Destiny 2 Prismatic Hunter Build: PvE Kits & Stats

Choose a Prismatic Hunter melee or Golden Gun kit. Compare Exotic cloak perks, Fragment triggers, current armor stats and build-coaching options.

Game:Destiny 2GuidesPublished: By CFNBoost
A hooded Destiny Hunter blends blue stasis crystal, violet void and orange solar energy across a dynamic alien battlefield, knife silhouette.

A Prismatic Hunter can be built around a close-range melee sequence or a carefully timed Golden Gun shot. Choose the job you need first: reaching enemies and repeating an attack requires a different rhythm from staying ready for a short damage opportunity. This guide gives two starting kits and optional Exotic-cloak comparisons.

Reviewed October 14, 2026. The equipment choices and practice sequences below are original editorial recommendations based on Bungie descriptions and released changes. They are not a measured DPS ranking or a claim that one build is strongest in every activity.

Two Prismatic Hunter PvE Starting Kits

Choose the kit for the fight

GoalStarting kitMain trade-off
Close-range melee playLiar’s Handshake · Combination Blow · Gambler’s DodgeYou need a reachable target and a way out.
A focused Golden Gun shotCelestial Nighthawk · Golden Gun: MarksmanA missed or poorly timed shot wastes the opportunity.

For both kits, try Stylish Executioner and Winter’s Shroud, then a Duskfield Grenade for a separate control option. The Nighthawk version can use Withering Blade rather than committing to a melee sequence. These are proposed combinations to practice with the abilities you have unlocked, not a requirement to acquire every possible roll.

Bungie’s original Prismatic roster establishes these available choices. On Prismatic, Stylish Executioner can activate from an enemy defeated with an elemental debuff; Winter’s Shroud supplies a nearby slow through the dodge. Prismatic roster and interaction design.

Melee Kit: Liar’s Handshake and Combination Blow

Liar’s Handshake rewards an Arc-melee hit or an incoming melee hit with a powerful follow-up counterpunch that heals. Combination Blow final blows build its melee bonus, return dodge energy and restore health. Landing an attack and getting the final blow are different conditions. Current Cross Counter description. Combination Blow’s original ability design.

  1. Start from a position where you can reach the target without abandoning the encounter task.
  2. Use the dodge and inspect the target’s debuff and your available melee energy.
  3. Land the Arc melee, then recognize the counterpunch opportunity rather than assuming every hit has the same effect.
  4. Check what actually refreshed after a final blow; switch to a weapon or reposition when the sequence breaks.

Released Gambler’s Dodge changes removed the nearby-enemy requirement for its melee-energy return. That return also scales with the relevant ability stat. Do not teach the old “stand beside an enemy for a guaranteed full melee refill” rule. Released Dodge and ability-energy changes.

The dodge’s melee return and Winter’s Shroud’s nearby slow are separate effects: the first can work without a nearby target, but your target still needs to be affected for the intended debuff interaction. If teammates defeat the target before your attack, read the resulting buff state before repeating the sequence.

Compare Class and Melee investment for the parts of this kit you use most. Keep a weapon that can handle an enemy you cannot approach. A successful melee loop against ordinary enemies is not proof that you should stand beside every boss or keep punching through an encounter mechanic.

Precision Kit: Celestial Nighthawk and Golden Gun

Suggested kit: Celestial Nighthawk, Golden Gun: Marksman, Withering Blade, Duskfield Grenade and the two Aspects above. Use your weapons for the ordinary fight, with the Super ready for the target and timing that matter to the team.

Celestial Nighthawk converts Golden Gun into one high-damage shot. Precision final blows reduce Super cooldown, and an enemy defeated by the shot returns Super energy and explodes. A surviving boss is not a final blow, so do not assume that refund occurs after every shot. Current Hawkeye Hack description.

  1. Identify the target and check that its damage opportunity is open.
  2. Choose a position that gives a clear shot without blocking your next movement.
  3. Coordinate the shot with the team’s intended damage window.
  4. After firing, return to weapons and the encounter task; inspect the actual remaining Super energy.

Compare Super investment with Weapons and the survival tools you need between damage phases. A larger displayed Super stat cannot compensate for missing the shot, firing into immunity or neglecting the next mechanic. This kit is a focused starting choice, not a promise of the highest total encounter damage.

Relativism: Compare the Actual Two-Perk Roll

An Exotic cloak is an alternative to the selected Exotic armor, not another Exotic armor piece to stack with it. Read both perks on your actual Relativism roll before replacing Liar’s Handshake or Celestial Nighthawk. A partial Spirit perk does not automatically include everything from the original Exotic.

Optional cloak pairs and their conditions

PairPublished perk conceptDecision to test
Spirit of Caliban + Spirit of the LiarPowered-melee final blows ignite; powered-melee damage or an incoming melee enables a counterpunch.Does the activity allow both the hit and the final-blow parts of the plan?
Spirit of Inmost Light + Spirit of the CyrtarachneUsing an ability improves the other abilities’ regeneration; using your grenade grants Woven Mail. Can you maintain the defensive condition without spending every ability at once?

These pairs use Bungie’s published launch perk concepts; inspect the current roll for its exact text. The cloak perks work with Prismatic, and Spirit of the Liar’s published description does not include the healing in Liar’s Handshake’s full perk. Do not treat the two as identical. Bungie’s Exotic-class-item perk reference.

For the Inmost Light/Cyrtarachne option, try Withering Blade and Duskfield while keeping Stylish Executioner and Winter’s Shroud. Plan when to use the grenade for the defensive state instead of throwing it whenever the button becomes available. No specific random roll is guaranteed by the coaching session below.

Fragments: Match the Trigger to Your Kit

A starting Fragment shortlist

FragmentCondition to check
Facet of DawnPowered-melee hits grant Radiant; final blows extend that benefit to nearby allies.
Facet of ProtectionIts defensive condition requires nearby enemies.
Facet of PurposeOrb pickup and the equipped Super determine the benefit.
Facet of BalanceRapid Light defeats return melee energy; rapid Dark defeats return grenade energy.

This shortlist follows Bungie’s original Fragment descriptions, with later changes taking precedence. Choose only as many as the equipped Aspects currently allow. Published Fragment descriptions. Facet of Purpose’s Arc-Super orb benefit was changed to Bolt Charge rather than the original Amplified. Released Purpose correction.

For the melee kit, compare the Dawn trigger and whether Protection’s condition is actually present. For the precision kit, judge Purpose from your equipped Super and your ability to collect Orbs. Inspect the stat adjustments before saving the loadout; adding a named Fragment is useful only when you can produce its trigger.

Build Transcendence Without Neglecting Weapons

Light and Dark damage feed separate Transcendence meters; Kinetic damage contributes to both. Hunter’s Transcendent grenade is Hailfire Spike, combining Stasis and Solar effects. Transcendence’s published design.

Use the meter to diagnose the loadout

ObservationAdjustment to try
The Light side fills firstLook for a practical Dark attack or weapon option.
The Dark side fills firstCheck the Light damage you can use during ordinary combat.
I stop dealing damage while waiting for abilitiesKeep a weapon ready and reduce unnecessary ability switching.
I activate at the wrong encounter momentChoose the target and movement plan before activating.

Choose weapon ranges and ammo use for the actual fight. A Light/Dark mix is a way to test meter balance, not a reason to equip weapons you cannot use effectively. Practice the Transcendent grenade’s placement before relying on it during a short damage window.

Current Hunter Stats: Class Drives the Dodge

The armor overhaul replaced the old stat effects. Class controls class-ability recharge; Weapons is not the old Mobility-based dodge plan. Points improve effects individually, with enhanced benefits from 101 to 200. Released armor-stat definitions.

Stats to inspect on the equipped loadout

StatRelevant effect
ClassDodge recharge, class-energy gains and above-100 on-cast Overshield.
MeleeMelee recharge and energy gains, then above-100 melee damage.
GrenadeGrenade recharge and energy gains, then above-100 grenade damage.
HealthOrb healing, flinch resistance and enhanced shield benefits.
SuperEnergy gains and enhanced damage; not a lower base Super cooldown.
WeaponsReload, handling and damage benefits at the relevant investment.

Start with the action that repeatedly fails: an unavailable dodge, missing melee energy, poor weapon control or a defensive gap. Change one investment and compare the result. Keep an earlier saved loadout so a disappointing armor swap is easy to undo.

Keep PvP and Old Build Instructions Separate

Released June changes let Ascension activate Winter’s Shroud on Prismatic and count it as a class ability. They also disable Artifact mods in Trials and competitive Crucible, with multi-charge abilities starting at one charge in PvP. Released interaction and PvP rules.

These PvE kits do not establish a PvP ranking. Read the active match rules and ability state instead of transferring a PvE opening sequence unchanged. Recheck any old instruction that relies on a full energy refund, a particular Artifact perk or a Fragment slot count from launch.

Prismatic Hunter Build Coaching

A timed coaching discussion lets you review the Hunter equipment you own and the gameplay decisions you want to improve while controlling your Guardian. Bring one saved loadout and one recurring problem, such as a broken melee sequence, an unused damage window or an uneven Transcendence meter.

Prismatic Hunter FAQ

Kit choices, changed rules and coaching

Which starting kit should I choose?

Try the melee kit when targets are reachable and the sequence fits your role. Try Nighthawk when you want a focused Golden Gun shot. The choices are editorial starting points, not a universal damage ranking.

Must Gambler’s Dodge be used beside an enemy?

The released change removed that requirement for melee-energy return. Winter’s Shroud’s nearby slow is a separate condition, and the energy actually returned still matters.

Does the Spirit of the Liar include Liar’s Handshake healing?

Its published partial-perk description does not include the healing in the full armor perk. Read the actual cloak roll and do not substitute one for the other without checking the defensive plan.

Does Facet of Purpose still grant Amplified with an Arc Super?

The released update changed that Arc-Super Orb benefit to Bolt Charge. The launch description should not be used for that effect.

Should I maximize the old Mobility stat for dodge recharge?

Use the current Class stat’s dodge recharge effect. Inspect the equipped stat menu instead of applying the old Mobility priority.

Are these tested DPS or PvP rankings?

No. The kits and practice decisions are original editorial recommendations supported by Bungie descriptions and dated released changes. No measured ranking or guaranteed clear is claimed.

Will coaching give me a specific Exotic cloak roll?

No. The timed discussion reviews equipment and gameplay questions. It does not supply equipment or guarantee a random perk combination.

Is another Self-play fee added to coaching?

No. The listed coaching sessions already include Self-play participation. The separate 20% boosting surcharge does not apply.
