FC 27 Ultimate Team Guide: Rivals, Champions & Progression

Plan FC 27 Ultimate Team progression through Rivals, Champions, Squad Battles, Evolutions and Season Pass. Understand CQP, weekly points and your next goal.

football players in unbranded blue and white kits plan an attacking move on a floodlit pitch, football central, stadium atmosphere.

Build your FC 27 Ultimate Team around a clear next goal, rather than trying to finish every mode at once. You might need a stronger starting eleven, a Rivals promotion, entry to Champions or an Evolution for a favourite player. These goals can support one another, but their counters and rewards are different.

Choose the Right Mode for Your Next Goal

A simple Ultimate Team route

Mode or featureUse it forCheck before starting
RivalsCompetitive online matches during the week.Division progress or the current weekly tracker.
ChampionsA qualified entry into a competitive event. The result you can pursue within its available match window.
Squad BattlesMatches against AI opponents.A suitable difficulty and remaining weekly competition matches.
EvolutionsUpgrading a particular eligible player. The exact path, player requirements and both timers.

For a new club, start with a squad you can use comfortably and one manageable objective. Pick a familiar formation, identify the weakest role and keep a few useful substitutes. Improve a specific problem in your matches before replacing several players just because their overall ratings are higher.

EA’s FC 27 launch update explains the different roles of Rivals, Champions and Squad Battles. Treat a reward threshold as one milestone in your club plan, then decide whether your next session is better spent on an eligible objective, squad practice or a different mode.

Champions Qualification in FC 27

FC 27 lets you earn Champions Qualification Points through Rivals or Squad Battles. Every Rivals division can contribute; Division 6 is not a requirement. Higher divisions earn CQP faster. Find your balance in Ultimate Team → Play → Core Modes → Champions. EA’s current Champions guide.

If your aim is entering Champions, check the CQP balance and entry requirement directly before you plan a long Rivals climb. Improving your division can be a useful separate goal, but do not treat reaching Division 6 as an entry gate carried over from an older edition.

Champions Finals uses a 15-match format. Its current event screen shows the available rewards, which can include Coins, CQP and Champions Tokens. Tokens can be exchanged for reward options in the Champions Token Store. Finals and reward details.

Reserve enough time for the competition you intend to enter and check whether your club has already used any of its matches. Being qualified and achieving a Finals result are separate stages. When planning your squad, solve the weaknesses you have noticed in actual matches rather than assuming a pack reward will supply a particular missing player.

Keep Weekly Points, CQP and Season Points Separate

Read the correct counter

CounterWhat it tracksAvoid this mix-up
Rivals weekly pointsProgress on the current Rivals weekly reward tracker. They are not the same balance as Champions Qualification Points.
Champions Qualification PointsYour progress toward Champions entry. They do not specify a Finals result.
Season Points (SP)Progress on the active Season Pass. They do not promote your Rivals division.
Division progressYour Rivals ladder position.A promotion target is not automatically a weekly reward package.

Before a session, write down the counter you want to change and its current value. If you have 12 weekly points and add 15, that describes 27 points on that tracker; it does not describe 15 wins or 15 CQP. Whether a reward tier is met depends on the requirements actually displayed for that week.

The FC 27 Rivals service offers distinct promotion routes, one- or five-win packages, and +15 or +30 additional weekly points. Use the option for your current division. Promotion names a destination, wins count completed victories, and weekly points add to the existing tracker. Choose the result you need rather than combining those meanings.

Use Squad Battles for a Manageable Progression Session

A practical starting routine is to choose a difficulty at which you can play a stable match, then focus on one improvement such as moving the ball out of pressure or defending a transition. Increase the difficulty when you can repeat the decisions, rather than turning every session into a test you cannot finish reliably.

Read your club’s remaining eligible competition matches before setting a weekly target. The Squad Battles service lists one to eighteen wins at a selected difficulty. That is a win objective, not a purchase of an Elite leaderboard position. Pick a target that fits the allowance still available on your club.

When you have an eligible objective to practise, read its exact mode and squad requirements first. Similar-looking matches can serve different purposes. Do not assume a goal, appearance or win will advance an objective unless that objective accepts the mode and player you used.

Plan an Evolution Before Committing a Player

Open Club → Evolutions and review the path’s requirements and any unlock cost. A standard Evolution makes the submitted item untradeable while applied. Set the Evolution Active, finish its objectives and claim the upgrades. The Preview Evolution feature can compare chained paths using the player’s resulting stats. EA’s Evolution instructions.

Get Within shows the activation deadline; Expires In shows the completion deadline. An Evolution can have one, both or neither timer. Check these separately instead of treating activation as a guarantee that all upgrade time is available. Evolution time limits.

Choose a player who fills a role you want to keep using. Compare the final attributes and role fit with the effort required, then check whether the next intended path still accepts the upgraded item. A large overall increase is less useful if the player still does not solve the problem in your squad.

The Player Evolutions service covers one listed path for one eligible player you already own. Have any in-game entry fee available and confirm that the path is still active. It does not supply a player, every Evolution or unrelated objectives and SBCs.

Season Pass Progress and Premium Access

Season Pass advances through Season Points and objectives. FC 27 supports progress through Ultimate Team, The Grounds on supported platforms and Career Mode. Premium is an optional extra reward track using the same SP progression. SP resets with a new season. EA’s Season Pass guide.

Choose the reward you want to reach before chasing every available task. Review the season timer, current level and eligible objectives, then fit them around the matches you already intend to play. Check the reward track itself when deciding what a level unlocks; a level number alone does not identify a particular player or pack.

The Season Pass service currently lists routes starting at level 1 and ending at level 3, 8, 15, 22 or 30. The label gives the endpoint, not an extra quantity of levels. Premium access is separate, and an expired track cannot be progressed through the package.

A Focused Weekly Ultimate Team Plan

  • Start with your current division, CQP balance, weekly tracker and season timer. Choose one main result for the week.
  • Put short-deadline Evolution work first when it fits your squad plan; read both activation and completion timers.
  • Use Rivals or Squad Battles according to your qualification goal and the matches you can play consistently.
  • If you are entering Finals, keep its competition window and remaining matches separate from the rest of your schedule.
  • At the end of a session, check the actual counters and claim completed upgrades or unlocked rewards before planning the next one.

For example, a club focused on qualification can prioritise eligible CQP matches while building a reliable starting eleven. A club that already has entry access can plan its Finals run instead. Another player may get more value from finishing a useful Evolution than from pushing into a higher division that week. The best next step depends on the goal and time available.

Match the Service to Your Club’s Starting Point

The Champions service separates Finals rank objectives for an already qualified club from qualification packages labelled 0–1000 CQP by starting division. Read that as the published package scope, and check the current in-game entry requirement and your existing balance before ordering. Qualification does not include a Finals result.

Rivals, Champions, Player Evolutions and Season Pass currently use Piloted execution. Do not read these as sessions you play yourself. Squad Battles has separate Piloted and participating Self-play options. If you want to discuss decisions and improve your own play, FC 27 Coaching offers selected session durations from one to twenty hours instead of a fixed division or competitive result.

Compare the FC 27 catalogue once you know the objective. Use the current total in your selected display currency, check the platform and participation shown, and keep your squad and starting progress consistent with the package. A reward pack or pick is not a named-player delivery.

Ultimate Team Progression Questions

Choosing your next FC 27 objective

Is Division 6 required for Champions in FC 27?

No. EA removed that requirement; earn the CQP needed for entry through Rivals or Squad Battles.

Does +15 weekly points mean 15 wins?

No. The current Rivals package adds points to the weekly tracker; a match-win package is a different objective.

Does buying a Finals package include qualification?

The listed Finals choices assume your club already has entry access. Qualification is a separate choice.

Does starting an Evolution mean its timer no longer matters?

Check the activation and completion timers separately. Starting the path does not establish that you have finished its objectives.

Does Season Pass progression include Premium?

No. The CFNBoost progression package and Premium access are separate. Check the reward track already available on your account.

Will a win package guarantee a specific player reward?

No. A purchased match objective is different from the contents of a reward pack or pick.
