Destiny 2 Vesper’s Host Guide: Encounters & Rewards
Learn Vesper’s Host augment roles, encounter cycles and current dungeon reward rules. Separate a full clear, solo challenge and Ice Breaker acquisition.
Vesper’s Host asks your team to solve mechanics while keeping the room under control. A first clear becomes easier to plan when everyone knows who confirms information, who performs the action and who protects the next step. This Destiny 2 guide explains the three encounter cycles, useful preparation and the difference between a dungeon completion, a reward-farming session and an Ice Breaker objective.
Reviewed October 14, 2026. Reward planning below follows Bungie’s released Monument of Triumph rules. Check the live activity card for difficulty, modifiers, access and featured status; the 2024 launch requirements and Contest window are historical.
Choose the Goal Before Launching
Different goals need different preparation
| Goal | Plan for | Check afterward |
|---|---|---|
| First full clear | Learning every encounter and the connecting route | Activity completion and the rewards actually received. |
| Final-boss session | A checkpoint at the intended encounter | The boss completion, not progress through every earlier encounter. |
| Master clear | The selected difficulty and current modifier requirements | The difficulty recorded by the activity and any targeted objective. |
| Solo or Solo Flawless | A full attempt meeting the exact Triumph conditions | The named record; a group clear is a different result. |
| Weapon, Catalyst or secret objective | Its own requirements and collection state | The exact item or objective, separately from the dungeon clear. |
Tell the group the goal before everyone builds a loadout. A learning run should allow time to explain an unfamiliar mechanic; a repeat boss session should start at the agreed checkpoint. Do not let an undefined “quick run” hide those differences.
Access, Difficulty and Loadout Checks
Make sure the activity is available to the account and platform you are using. If purchased content appears locked, Bungie provides platform-specific license checks and restoration steps. Check the account that owns the content before buying it again. Bungie’s license troubleshooting guide.
Read the selected difficulty’s Power, shields, Champions and other modifiers from the current card. Choose equipment that covers those listed requirements. Leave inventory space for rewards and make sure each player can explain how their loadout handles an ordinary combat wave.
Bungie’s disabled-items page listed no disabled items when checked for this review. That is a dated observation, not a promise that a named weapon or ability will always be available. Current disabled-items list.
Prepare for the work you will do
| Job | Useful loadout check | Practice question |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanic interaction | A weapon you can aim precisely | Can I act on a clear call without hitting nearby targets? |
| Room control | A reliable way to handle the enemies around the team | Can I keep space open while another player reads or carries? |
| Boss damage | Enough ammunition and an attack you can use in that encounter | Can I recover after movement or an interrupted phase? |
| Survival and recovery | A defensive option you understand | Can I stay alive while finishing my assigned task? |
Scanner, Operator and Suppressor
Viral Carriers drop augments when defeated. Each Guardian can hold one augment at a time. Carrier and augment overview.
Core augment jobs
| Augment | Action |
|---|---|
| Scanner | Approach candidates: correct markers stay white; incorrect ones disappear. |
| Operator | Shoot confirmed control panels. |
| Suppressor | Create a hologram with the grenade input, then shoot it near the enemy. |
Bank augments before integration expires. Core Radiation is lethal at x10; handoffs or brief drops let stacks fall. Mechanic reference.
For a group run, agree who calls the result and who acknowledges it. Use a number and visible location when possible. If two players give conflicting instructions, resolve the conflict before activating the next step. For solo practice, keep a written record instead of trying to remember several uncertain observations at once.
Encounter 1: Activate the Station
Collect cores from Brain, Lungs and Heart. Scanner confirms four panels per branch; Operator shoots them. Return each core, destroy the shielding Brig and deposit. Activation walkthrough.
Treat each completed branch as a separate task. Before carrying, identify who will escort and who can help if the route becomes crowded. Call when the team is ready to move, and confirm the deposit before starting another branch. A short pause to settle assignments is preferable to everyone trying to perform the same job.
Encounter 2: Raneiks Unified and the Four-Number Code
Two suppression reads reveal four numbered Servitors. Operator shoots the matching panels; another suppression splits the unified boss for damage. Raneiks encounter reference.
Write the confirmed numbers for the current cycle and have the caller repeat them before input. Mark the end of the cycle so an earlier list cannot be mistaken for a fresh one. A search result or a previous attempt’s digits are not a substitute for the information your team just collected.
Choose damage you can apply to the target state you actually see. If a phase is weak, identify whether the problem was ammunition, timing, positioning or a missed mechanic. Change that specific issue before deciding that everyone needs a completely different build.
Encounter 3: The Corrupted Puppeteer
Reach Lower Stacks using augments. For both purges, activate panels, scan the correct copy and bunker its core. Outside, deposit the glowing puppet’s core in the bunker for the first Anomaly pulse; use the floor hatch for the second. Puppeteer walkthrough.
Keep the mechanic setup and damage phase as separate team calls. Before a timed action, establish who is responsible for the next objective and who watches the escape. During damage, the caller should announce a retreat early enough for everyone to react. Avoid extending an attack merely because the boss has little health left.
Codes, Secrets and Rogue Network Are Separate Progress
Raneiks encounter information, optional chest focusing and Catalyst puzzles are different systems. Identify which task you are solving before following a code or route. For an optional objective, read its current quest or Triumph step and confirm that earlier requirements are complete.
This page summarizes the mandatory encounters rather than reproducing every secret-chest or Catalyst puzzle. The linked walkthrough separates those optional routes. A full clear by itself should not be treated as proof that all puzzle access, quest messages or Catalyst steps were completed.
Current Dungeon Rewards and Weekly Limits
Bungie’s June 9, 2026 update introduced tiered rewards for older raids and dungeons, with two featured dungeons each week. Its dungeon framework distinguishes the following cases. Released reward and rotator rules.
Published Monument of Triumph dungeon framework
| Activity state | Standard encounters | Master encounters |
|---|---|---|
| Featured dungeon | Tier 5 weapons and armor | Tier 5 weapons and armor |
| Non-featured dungeon | Tier 3 weapons and armor | Tier 5 weapons and armor |
The listed featured encounter rewards are farmable unless identified as weekly. Featured Director Challenge and hidden-chest rewards retain weekly limits. These Legendary reward rules do not establish an exact Ice Breaker probability or guarantee its drop. Check the current launch card and reward state before planning repeats. Reward scope and exceptions.
Compare rewards actually received with the goal of the session. A tier tells you something different from an item name or desired perk combination. Do not describe every successful run as a successful weapon farm if the specific item has not appeared.
Ice Breaker: A Clear Is Not a Guaranteed Acquisition
Bungie guaranteed the dungeon Exotic during the original October 2024 Contest window, which lasted 48 hours. That launch promotion is historical; it is not a guarantee for a present-day ordinary clear. Original Contest announcement.
If your goal is Ice Breaker, track the actual acquisition separately from completion count. Review the current drop-eligibility and Triumph descriptions in the game before repeating a checkpoint. This review does not publish an unverified drop percentage, a fixed number of attempts or a guaranteed “one-run” result.
Make the Next Attempt More Useful
- Choose a full clear, a specific encounter or an optional objective.
- Read the current activity and objective requirements together.
- Assign a caller and agree how the team acknowledges instructions.
- Practice the part that failed before judging the entire loadout.
- After completion, inspect the reward, quest or Triumph state you actually targeted.
For a learning session, record one concrete issue after a wipe: an uncertain call, a late transition, a lost role or an attack you could not use comfortably. Work on that issue during the next attempt. This is a practice method, not a measured clear-time claim or a guarantee of Solo Flawless success.
Compare Vesper’s Host Service Objectives
CFNBoost separates the dungeon objective from a named Exotic acquisition. The dungeon configurator contains Vesper’s Host full clear, last boss, Master and solo choices; an Ice Breaker weapon objective appears in the Exotic service. Choose the requested result rather than assuming the cheapest card includes both.

Vesper’s Host FAQ
Run goals, rewards and preparation
What should a first-clear team agree before starting?
Choose the goal, confirm the difficulty and name the players who call information and perform each action. Leave room in the session to practice unfamiliar transitions.
Can I use the same Raneiks numbers for another attempt?
Keep records separated by cycle. Use the current confirmed information; an old or uncertain list should not be entered as though it came from this attempt.
Does a normal clear include every secret puzzle?
No. Treat quest messages, optional chests and Catalyst progress as separately checked goals. A completion record alone does not establish that all optional requirements were met.
Does the current reward tier guarantee a particular weapon?
No. The tier framework and receiving the specific item or perk combination you want are different things. Inspect the actual reward after the run.
Does a CFNBoost dungeon clear include Ice Breaker?
The published dungeon objective covers the named clear or challenge. Ice Breaker weapon acquisition is a separate choice in the Exotic service; the clear is not sold as its acquisition.
Which difficulty or Power should I prepare for?
Read the current selected activity card. Do not reuse launch-era Power values or a modifier plan taken from a different difficulty.
Can I select Self-play for a solo challenge?
The published Solo and Solo Flawless choices use Piloted only. Compatible group objectives offer Self-play with the owner-configured 20% addition.
Is one named weapon mandatory for every encounter?
Prepare for the tasks and restrictions of the selected activity. Choose equipment you can use reliably instead of assuming that a fixed “best” list suits every player and modifier set.
